Hello again
September WPOR Collaboration of the Week
First off, great job to all
On to this week. We are back to the usual two Top importance Stubs: Sunstone and Oregon, My Oregon. Both are stub pluses, so it shouldn’t take much to upgrade them both. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Good day! Aboutmovies 22:46, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
WPOR Collaboration: 09172007
All righty WPOR ladies and gentleman, great job last week with our state song and gemstone. I have bumped them up to Start class. I haven’t looked at the contributions, so the COTW award will be later. This week’s articles are Darlene Hooley, by special request, and another Top stub, our very own state rock, the Thunderegg. Yes, apparently we have a state rock and state gemstone. No word on whether there is a state stone too. Hooley basically needs some sources to make it to the next level. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. In the words of Beaver Joe, whoop! Aboutmovies 18:15, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Fall WPOR COTW
Welcome to autmun and the weekly COTW news. Great job to those who helped out with last week’s articles: Darlene Hooley & Thunderegg. Both made great improvements. This week, something a little different. With fall upon us, the photo ops are going to be harder to get, so we have a photo request fulfillment drive. Take a look at the requested pictures for Oregon category or the graphics subproject for what’s needed. Then go take a picture, or search online for a free picture to upload (US gov sites are great and there are links available from the above links). If you fill a request, be sure to remove the request template from the article’s talk page. Our other item is another red link removal drive, this time on the flagship Oregon article. Like the state parks red link drive, try to coordinate on the talk page. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Aboutmovies 02:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Week 1 October WP:ORE COTW
I know everyone has been waiting anxiously for this week’s COTW, so here they are:
As to last week, it is difficult to track the items we were working on, but I know some pictures were added and at least three red links were removed from Oregon, so thank you to all those who participated. The award winner will be GoodDamon for their creation of the Oregon Forest Resources Institute article. We have now worked through all the Top class stubs and are into the High class stubs. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Happy editing, and remember if you see a downed power line, don’t pick it up. Aboutmovies 20:23, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

On another note, just a general good job/pat on the back to the project for a great 2007, the first full year of the project. We had 83 DYKs about Oregon, improved one article to FA, and went from around 4 GAs to 17 GAs. Plus numerous new articles, improvements to existing, the introduction of the COTW, and the introduction of article assessment at the project. Again, great job and here’s to a new year. Hello
Indianan
Hello. You added "Indianan" as a denomonym on the article Indiana. Your edit comment states that it is because it is the term most used by people outside of the state to refer to people in Indiana. I was wondering if you had a source or reference to show that Indianans is the most used, or even widely used, term to refer to inhabitants of the state of Indiana. The term is in the dictionary, but that does not mean it is regularly used. Charles Edward 13:21, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- In the Washington post article you linked to I believe you are misreading the use of the word Indianan. There it is being used properly as an adjective version of Indiana, not to refer to a resident of the state. In the second article it is being to describe a resident of the state, but certainly you must also find that odd. Do a quick google search of the washington post site and you will find the word Indianan only occurs in three articles, no doubt wrote by a reporter who does not know his subject very well. Whereas the term Hoosiers occurs hundreds of times. For example [1][2] [Artists of All Stripes Put The Indie in Indianapolis] [3]. Indianan is definatly a seldom used term and Hoosier is most certainly the more widely used term. Charles Edward 01:02, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Willamette Meteorite location
You took a great photo of the meteorite's replicate and plaque. Where is that—exactly? The meteorite's location seems to be messed up: The article gives 45°22′N 122°35′W / 45.367°N 122.583°W which seems implausibly to be on the wrong side of the river. If you were anywhere in West Linn, two miles NW would be somewhere just east of Wankers Corner, which matches my memory of a grade school field trip to the site. Actually I think it was the farmer's field adjacent to the site since there was no permission to enter the actual location. —EncMstr (talk) 17:47, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

- At least 10 DYKs
- Three articles passed GA after being listed at COTW

Ssssh, Be Very Very Quiet, its Oregon COTW time
Howdy folks, its time for this week’s edition of Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week. First off, great job the last two weeks with Greg Oden & the Hospital red link drive. We had close to ten new hospital articles and two DYKs () plus other improvements to the list itself. So thank you to those who helped out. This week, we have on a sad note Kevin Duckworth, and the Statesman Journal. Duckworth should have plenty of sources so hopefully in tribute we can get his article up to standards. With the SJ, hopefully we can get it above a stub so all three of the top three papers are no longer stubs, and maybe even a DYK and GA like we got from the Register-Guard? I don't know any Oregonian who makes the distinction. I seem to remember it in the speech of friends from the East Coast. I don't even think ɔ is a vowel distinguished from /o/, to be honest. WPORE COTW 2.0 - the picture edition
Greetings one and all. For some of you, this will be your first time receiving one of these messages, as it has been a year since the WikiProject Oregon Collaboration of the Week (COTW) was a regular thing. My hope is it gets back to being a regular thing.
Usually I would go over the past COTW, but we are basically starting out anew. So, without further adieu, this edition is our semi-annual picture drive. We usually try to do it when there is decent weather in the state, and today seems to fit the bill. Now although you are encouraged to go out and take pictures, you can also just search the internet for images that have the proper licensing and upload those. Flickr is one site that has a fair amount of content with the proper licensing (most images on Flickr are not compatible). See
Lastly, if you need to know what images we need, here are the requests. Please remove the request from the talk page if you add an image.
Finally (this is not image related), as the years have passed, we have lost many good editors, and others, like myself, are no longer in school or are working full-time or both, and thus are less active in the project. The project lives on, but it has created a bit of a power vacuum without a de facto cabal still around all the time. With that in mind, I encourage newer project members to step-up and fill some leadership type roles. Granted, we have no formal ruling junta or anything and no real defined roles, but there are many maintenance type tasks that some of us just took on to keep the project going. For instance, I ran the COTW, was pretty much the only one doing assessments, updating the portal, and even handing out the awards. I am sure others in the project can name what things they have done. The point being, that while I enjoyed those and still do some of those, I simply no longer have the free time to do all of it at a level that the project deserves. That said, I hope to start a discussion at

The narrator of the song isn't Cohen himself. In the song, he takes on the "persona," if you will, of a crippled hunchback. You can interpret his choice of persona/character however you like, but that's still the character that Cohen has created (regardless of the hunchback's symbolic meaning).Jpcohen (talk) 19:28, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gettin' Down to It, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles Singleton. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
