Disambiguation link notification for October 13

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited DVD, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Computer Shopper (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Did you assert both keep and delete?

In my reading of this deletion procedure I came across what I thought was humorous: One weak delete !vote and another keep were using the same sources. Then I realized they seemed to be the same user account. You wanna strike through one or the other? BusterD (talk) 14:07, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Eric Daman article

Hi Uzma

Thanks for trying to help me clarify the situation. I am not Eric Daman, but I did set up the account on his behalf (at my own suggestion) since he is named numerously throughout Gossip Girls pages and others I believe. IN you opinion would it be better for me to submit the article from my own (new) username/sandbox (brianleeboyce)? Also I appreciate the advice to add photos of Eric as you outlined subsequently to your first note! thanks again! Ericdamanstyle (talk) 19:04, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

What a reliable source is

You had "Wikipedia coverage of views that appear in astrology reliable sources should not convey acceptance by the scientific community in science behind astrology" in the template. If an astrology source states any acceptance by the world at large, it is not reliable for that claim, it contradicts all other non-fringe reliable sources. If astrology sources try to legitimize astrology, they are similarly not reliable for that claim. If astrology sources try to make an astrologer look like they have a good standing in the world at large, they are not reliable for that claim. If an astrology source makes a basic statement of something being fact, they are not reliable for that claim. Why are they not reliable, you may ask. They are not reliable because they do not have a reputation for basic fact checking. They do have a reputation for aggrandizing astrologers and astrology. They consistently deny what the most reliable sources state uncontroversially. The claims may be true in some cases, but we can not use these sources for this information because they have a history of unreliability. Thus, they are only reliable for the opinions of the astrologers in the publications they are in. For example, in the specific case of astrology as pseudoscience, an astrology source is clearly unreliable for discussing the status of astrology. For an analogous case, you also believe that "Creation Ex Nihilo" is reliable?

Lawson adit

Thanks for the Google link. Oddly, the first page states there are 80 results while going to the second page changes the results count to 22. One would think Google wouldn't do that.

Anyway, regarding the larger question, I'd probably be interested in participating as part of a small group of editors, to improve this article, but otherwise probably will abandon any future involvement. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:51, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Inappropriate

Telling an edit warring editor who is removing any mention of climate change from the sandy article, despite a significant amount of coverage from reputable sources to "hang in there", and with your arguments solely based on your personal beliefs not policy based reasons, seems to be grossly inappropriate. Anyway, the exact reason why scientists are saying what they have is seen here:

About a COIN thread

Hi,
I respect you as an editor, and it's great to get some input into a long-term dispute from an uninvolved editor, but alas I must disagree with one of your closures on

WP:COIN as I feel that significant evidence may have been overlooked, among all the complex arguments and walls of text. Not wanting to tread on your toes, I added an extra section instead of reverting your closure; I would be very grateful if you could look at the new section and say whether or not it would affect your decision. Would you like any further evidence? (Although I'm wary of adding even more to the walls-of-text which obviously make life difficult for editors who aren't already mired in this problem...) bobrayner (talk

Hotel Senator Photo Request

I can definitely take some photos of the building. The building is not a hotel any longer. It is an office building now and there is no public access so I cannot take photos inside the building. But I would be glad to do a few outside shots. -Toyz1988 (talk) 23:37, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Rokform AfD discussion

Hi Uzma. I offered a clarification at: Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/User:Corporate_Minion/Rokform

The nature of my COI is that I want it kept, but I requested the discussion to verify if Wikipedia wants the article.

I won't go around bugging folks that vote delete or anything, but I'd hate to see a delete vote because you thought that was my request ;-)

Hey Uzma. My read of astroturfing regulations is that someone is required to disclose their affiliation in any online forum in which they participate to the extent that it is made obvious to readers. So naturally, I would disclose my COI in almost any post I make, unless it is already well-known by likely participants. I could see how this seems excessive compared to what we normally get.
I only paraphrased both views, but am not lobbying aggressively for one outcome or another (or at least not trying to). Since two editors disagreed, I kindly requested a consensus decision is all.
Hope this helps. If you have any Qs, my Talk page is always open. This article is fairly inconsequential, just hoping we could start off on a better foot.

Updating Nadia Ali's Wikipage

Hi Uzma, I have received the proper licensing and picture to upload to Nadia's profile. However, when I try to upload the photo to wikimedia commons I consistently get this error:

Fantasy Cover Image1 of Nadia Ali.jpg There was another file already on the site with the same content, but it was deleted.

What can I do to get around this?

Scrolling lists

Just in case you aren't watching my page, I thought I would respond here.

Thanks for the way to do a scrolling list without using CSS, that's very intriguing. I'm going to run this by the MOS mavens, to see what they think. May not affect you, as you plan it for Commons, but I might want to use it, if it isn't disallowed.

I see that you added the header rows above the table,s but as you realized, the spacing if off, so it doesn't line up well. I'm assuming the default is such that the top of the table will always show when you load, so the only way to lose the row would be to physically scroll down, and if you can do that you can undo that. It would be nice if there was a way to freeze the top rows, but I see it as an improvement even if that's not possible.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 14:37, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

I made a change to Help:Scrolling list, feel free to revert if you don't like it.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:19, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
