- The image you have uploaded is a duplicat see: File:John Flanagan Martin Sheridan James Mitchell.jpg. With the correct licensing there is no copyright problem. Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 11:26, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for your answer. Yes, I saw, that you have done a great job to all these track and field bios! I have only added a few Olympic details. For the images: If you want to upload a cleaned up version of an already existing image you can use the "Upload a new version of this file" link which can be found next to the "File history". For images created before January 1, 1923 in the United States (!) you can use the licensing {{PD-US}}. I hope this helps, but feel free to ask me again. Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 12:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Decline reason:
Clearing an autoblock
Due to the nature of the block applied we need additional information before we can decide whether to unblock you. It is very likely that you are not personally blocked. If you are prevented from editing, it may be because you are autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. Without further details there is nothing further we can do to review or lift your block. Please follow these instructions:
- If you have a Wikipedia account, please ensure that you are logged in.
Your account name will be visible in the top right of this page if you are.
If it isn't, try bypassing your web browser's cache. - Try to edit the Sandbox.
- If you are still blocked, copy the {{unblock-ip|...}} code generated for you under the "IP blocked?" section. This is usually hidden within the "What do I do now?" section. If so, just click the "[show]" link to the right hand side to show this text.
- Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page and click save.
If you are not blocked from editing the sandbox then the autoblock on your IP address has already expired and you can resume editing. - auburnpilot talk 00:36, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
{{unblock|My ip and account Winged Fist was blocked because I created a new account, Greater Astoria, which was in violation of wikipedia's COI and spamming policy. Correct licenses for images
Hi. Thank you for your contributions.
You have uploaded a large number of images with the license tag {{PD-author}}, which indicates that the copyright owner has released the image into the public domain. The vast majority of these images were published in the United States before 1923, so they are now in the public domain, but not because the copyright owner released the image. I have replaced many of your image tags with {{PD-US}}, which is a more accurate description of the situation. Many more of your tags still need to be replaced. (Perhaps you can do this.)
Also, please note that the author/owner of these images is the creator of the original image, not the person or organization who scanned them.
In the future, please record the correct authorship and license information on your image uploads. Thank you. --Orlady (talk) 21:14, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Glad to see the changes you made. Has this helped you clarify the real license status of the Long Island City coat of arms? If that's an 1873 image, it should be easy to resolve. --Orlady (talk) 14:06, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- It sounds like the organization asserts ownership of the image. I'm no expert on image licenses, but it sounds like Template:Non-free with permission might be appropriate for that image. I suggest that you post the message you put on my talk page on the "possibly unfree" page at [1] --Orlady (talk) 21:54, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Gettting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games
Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 03:05, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Files missing description details
are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.
If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.
If you have any questions, please seeFile permission problem with File:Dan Kelly.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Dan Kelly.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 11:57, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Harvey Cohn.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Harvey Cohn.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Hi, at
Invitation to the African Destubathon
Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
