Don't change quoted words

In this edit you changed the words in a quotation. Please never do this: you may think the writer could have worded it better, but Wikipedia is telling us what they said, in their own words. Thanks. PamD 15:22, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And you did the same in this edit, changing the meaning; "tinge of gospel" and "tinge of the gospel" are quite different, one being about music and one about the bible. Never alter quoted words. PamD 15:58, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Careful editing

In this edit: "flautist" is a perfectly good word (perhaps used more in British English?). A "schools concert" is a concert given for an audience of schoolchildren from different schools; a "school concert" is a concert performed by pupils of one school. I have reverted both these changes. No "a" or "an" in name entries

Please see

MOS:DABPEOPLE: we don't add "a" or "an" before a person's description as you did in this edit
.

It was a similar edit, to Horniblow, a page on my watch-list, which led me to have a look at some of your recent edits, which explains why there are several notes from me here. There is a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia but it's an interesting journey: Happy Editing. PamD 15:41, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Take care with typos

In this edit you changed "counteguard" to "coastguard". Why? Did "coastguard" make sense here? Are you using a spellchecker or similar, which is making unhelpful suggestions? The word "counterguard" occurs multiple times in this article, and "counteguard" was obviously a typo, a simple typing mistake of missing out one letter. Please never change words unless you are 100% certain that you are changing them to the right new word. If you find a term which doesn't make sense, you could add {{clarify|reason=What word was intended here?}}, but please take care not to damage the encyclopedia by inserting totally wrong words. (It happens: a previous editor added "bibliometric" where their spellchecker didn't recognise "bibliomemoir": plain rubbish. Please don't do it.) Thanks, PamD 15:48, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do not impose US spelling

In this edit you changed to US spelling for an Indian article. Indian English uses British spelling in general: see Indian_English#Spelling. Please do not impose American spelling inappropriately. Again, I wonder whether you are using a spellchecker or similar automation which does not recognise the international nature of Wikipedia? PamD 16:05, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

Despite the various points I've made above, most of your edits are a useful contribution to the encyclopedia, so please don't be discouraged. Thanks for your work, and Happy Editing! There's always more to learn about editing Wikipedia. PamD 16:32, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
