Euskera batua phrases

Kaixo! Sorry to disturb, but do you think you could take a look at the list of the article

Basque-Icelandic pidgin? There are a few phrases missing there, which I would be happy if a native speaker of Basque could revise. Eskerrikasko in advance! / Sappelle-gorre (talk) 08:47, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply

Hi there XABIER, writing from Portugal here,

nice work in this player's article, i have tried to improve it also. A favour: could you please provide a second title in English for the Basque reference you have provided.

Happy editing, thanks, gora --AL (talk) 21:10, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Issues in article Reconquista

Kaixo Xabier, zer moduz doa uda? I wish I wasn´t drawing your attention because of this, I am having a dispute with one breaching edition rules and pushing his point of view (basically not a contributor but a vandal). Translation job

Hi there XABI, how's it going?

i want to ask you a very small favour. Could you please translate the title of the 2nd reference in José Antonio Pikabea's article? Just to make the job a job well done... I believe KOTE must be a sort of a nickname for him or something (i could be wrong though) but the rest i have no idea about :(

Thanks very much in advance, keep it up from Portugal - --AL (talk) 23:34, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the additions in Txiki Begiristain, but please don't engage in OVERLINKING, José Mari Bakero and Luis López Rekarte are already referenced/linked in the above lines OK? The "teammate" mention is also not needed, because they are already referred to as that in the previous paragraph.

Thanks again, regards and happy week - --AL (talk) 19:51, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kaixo Xabier, ongi? Hope so! Ref added. Regarding the Azkoan, you can see in this Ahotsak.com website page that it is included in Navarrese (inside its oriental subdialect) by Zuazo (Ahotsak.com follows the Zuazo classification). --Xabier Armendaritz(talk) 14:57, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there XABI, AL "here",

please, keep in mind TRANSFERMARKT.com is not reliable by WP standards. I have removed the link, but have kept his current club and added due categories (if you are sure he plays for that Greek club, i respect your "approach").

I am leaving WP for good at the end of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, am growing very tired after eight years. Don't hesitate to ask if you need any help until that time comes.

Cheers, happy week --AL (talk) 22:35, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Circumnavigated

Hello Xabier Armendaritz, I think we have to add more sub title for “Motorcycle”..... Just for your information, still ongoing on a journey doesn’t meant not circumnavigated. Specially for someone who crossed all longitude, crossed Equator line more than 3 time, cover more than 300,000km, visited 94 country and ongoing... Anyway, thanks for your correction, I appreciated it...--AdvPrima (talk) 15:29, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rivers of Spain

Hi Xabier Armendaritz, I'm Jokulhlaup and I have made the Rivers of Spain category an all included cat, so that it acts as an overview. Please can we discuss this rather than reverting the edits...Jokulhlaup (talk) 11:02, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(moved from talk page to keep conversation together) Putting all those rivers again in "Category:Rivers of Spain" makes no sense, it's not consistent with "Category:Rivers of the United Kingdom," "Category:Rivers of the United States," etcetera. --Xabier Armendaritz(talk) 11:06, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, the same categorization occurs for Category:Rivers of France and Category:Rivers of Portugal, with many rivers from Spain crossing boundaries into these countries, so it does make sense...Jokulhlaup (talk) 11:13, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not very exemplary usage... but we better continue in the thread you have started in Category talk:Rivers of Spain, so that anyone interested can participate. --Xabier Armendaritz(talk) 11:43, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Basque Country.

Remove the title of "autonomous community" from the Basque country article because it only appears there; example: Catalonia, Castile and Leon...

Thank you.

--85.84.118.181 (talk) 16:35, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The term Basque Country is polysemic, there is also the "Basque Country (greater region)". So the parenthesis must stay, unless the article is renamed to "Basque Autonomous Community" or "Euskadi". --Xabier Armendaritz(talk) 22:35, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
One thing is Euskadi (Basque Country) and another Euskal Herria.

The title of the article is not correct; and do not erase historical nationality because it enjoys that status.

Agur bero bat. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.213.205.166 (talk) 13:44, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You can add that it is considered a historical nationality by this or that legal text (its Autonomy Statute and/or the Spanish Constitution, I guess), with proper reference, but please do not erase the definition: first of all, it is an autonomous community. --Xabier Armendaritz(talk) 21:16, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and the map is a crap that looks like it's made a little boy. --83.213.205.166 (talk) 13:47, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Spanish Wikipedia is not a valid source. Anyway, the second paragraph of the article already explains very clearly the matter:

The Basque Country or Basque Autonomous Community was granted the status of

Spanish Constitution of 1978
.

There is no need to repeat the same data once and again. --Xabier Armendaritz(talk) 19:36, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Parte Zaharra

Hello! A funny thing is that when I saw your edit to San Sebastián the first time, changing "Alde Zaharra" to "Parte Zaharra", I figured you were a Spanish speaker who missed the point and didn't realize that was the Basque name. (I do know Spanish, don't know Basque.) After I changed it back, then I noticed your user name and realized there was a reasonable chance you knew about Basque. The reason I didn't revert myself is that I did find "Alde Zaharra" online. I appreciate that you restored your edit and supplied sources.

A question though: The translation you gave says people have started using "Alde" because they don't know Basque. How would people who don't know Basque know to change Spanish "Parte" to Basque "Alde", and why would they want to? Not that you would know why if that's that the original does say, but it seemed odd enough that I wondered whether you might not have written it as you'd intended.

For what it's worth, I spent two days in the Parte Vieja just a few years ago and now I realize I hadn't known what it was called locally. Largoplazo (talk) 01:31, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
