The result was keep. I think the consensus is to Keep this article but it definitely needs some improvement, cutting it down and providing a stronger focus on the primary subject of the development of national identify. Liz Read! Talk! 06:15, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate article of Ukrainians and History of Ukraine, vastly unsourced, and I am not sure what is the point of the existence of this article. Other ethnic groups do not have an "history of nationality" page. Super Ψ Dro 09:55, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge (if there is anything useful to merge) to History of Ukraine or just redirect. This is clearly a duplicate, probably one with a POV. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:32, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This page first appeared 15 years ago, as a student's term paper for a course I taught at McGill university on the history of nationality. Super's statement that other ethnic groups do not have a "history of nationality" page is incorrect on two counts. There are numerous such pages listed at Category:History_of_nationality. Also (as would be clear if one were to read these pages), nationality derives from legal membership in sovereign states. It is not a function of ethnicity, and the use of this term in the nomination for deletion shows that the nominator has not grasped the topic. Certainly the page has source and duplication deficiencies; redirect or outright deletion are not the remedy. Merge is not unreasonable, but it will require some work as the article is lengthy. Finally, if we're speaking of POV, I'd suggest that this is an interesting historical moment to nominate a 15 year old page for deletion. Will Hanley (talk) 12:32, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep  Certainly Ukrainian national identity, and the history of its development is a vital topic in itself. But this article needs more of a focus on the history and historiography of Ukrainian nationality (see, for example, History of Ukraine#National historiography) without duplicating the simple history material into Ukraine#History, History of Ukraine, Ukrainians#History, and Ukrainians#Ethnic/national identity. Pare down and merge material into those articles and sections. —Michael Z. 16:03, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: As Will Hanley points out, the basis for the nomination is just wrong.--Milowenthasspoken 16:53, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the cogent arguments made above by Will Hanley and Michael Z. Clearly passes
