John Daker () (see below for all impersonating usernames)
He blanked pages with sockpuppet tags of John Daker which are not protected, then are fully protected immediately to prevent further disruption.
When the user edited as
talk · contribs) for over three years, he retired in January 2011, then performed a clean start about 17 months later and created the username 81M (talk · contribs). 81M's block by J.delanoy (talk · contribs
) who was admin at that time and had CheckUser capabilities was unblocked later with the reason "not sure of this yet". Although most edits were not related to the sock prior to CheckUser evidence, there was enough CheckUser evidence that it was a sockpuppet of John Daker along with 2, because they seem to be using the same IP address range. It is possible that 2's account was hijacked by John Daker. The creation of the user account "2" may be a precursor to this ongoing series of John Daker sock puppets.
The situation has changed to add some Nintendo-related articles damaged by replacing some instances with Daker.
On July 27, 2016, a sock puppet of John Daker named Johnny and Huff (talk · contribs) blanked Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of John Daker, which resulted in the protection of it and Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of John Daker from editing by new and unregistered users.
Targeted pages
- Articles about some Nintendo games, which replaced instances of some text with Daker. The Legend of Zelda series is commonly concerned because of Daker's alias (the triangle) and the object of prominence in the series, the Triforce.
- Articles related to triangles or Delta Air Lines.
- Huff Daland Dusters
- Hμff Daιaηd Dυsτεrs (deleted and salted)
- Delta Air Lines and related articles. (replacing "Delta [Air]" with "Huff Daland")
- Delta Air Lines Flight XXXX, where XXXX is a flight number
- This has eventually spread to other pages that are airliner companies, including, but not limited to...
- More recently, it has spread to pages that are not about airliners, including, but not limited to...
- Steven Universe, replacing the first words with "John Daker"
- Hush, Hush, Hush, Here Comes the Bogeyman
- Hannaford Brothers Company, replacing the main text with nonsensical "Huffdalanddusterford"
- And even OS versions...
- Many pages in these categories that have sockpuppet tags, which will be simply blanked by sockpuppets.
