Brand new account appears on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adrián Macías (an article created by Remitbuber) to !vote "No delete", and then removed the COI template that was originally placed there because of Remitbuber's involvement. WP:DUCK, same focus on promoting Nicolás Atanes and Draft:Virus Matemático (previously deleted at Virus Matemático), adding images of Spanish math organizations (cf. Cantorparadise linking an image by Mixedjust, who also uploaded a copyvio photo of Atanes after Remitbuber's), and creating individual ICM pages (see Draft:ICM 2018 by Mixedjust and the now-deleted ICM 2018 which was created by Remitbuber if I remember correctly). They also share the same overlinking patterns (e.g. links to dates: Cantorparadise and Remitbuber
).

This also extends to other wiki projects (e.g. Commons, es.wiki, ca.wiki) including a few other accounts that have not edited on en.wiki (e.g. Lasmariposasvuelan (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) and nicolas-atanes (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki)). Should this be requested at meta for a global CU? — MarkH21talk 20:52, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cantorparadise and Lasmariposasvuelan have been confirmed as socks at Commons: Commons:Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/Remitbuber. — MarkH21talk 17:30, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Blablubbs: Thanks for the explanation! Global lock + local CU makes sense.
One doesn't actually need to see the now-deleted ICM 2018 to see that Remitbuber was interested in it (e.g. linking to it). The connection between Mixedjust and Remitbuber is evident from the combination of Draft:ICM 2018/ICM 2018, Mixedjust and Remitbuber both uploading photos of Nicolás Atanes on Commons, and Mixedjust being CU-marked as possible to Remitbuber on Commons (evidence that a CU here could see). — MarkH21talk 16:38, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New account's first edit has been to continue the block evasion at Nicolás Atanes, adding the birthplace and image uploaded by Awikiband, and their second edit was to recreate Draft:Virus Matemático. Global locks needed on both accounts, maybe page protection at Nicolás Atanes too since this is the third or fourth occurrence at that article alone.— MarkH21talk 17:14, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Awikiband, a new account whose few edits include adding images to European Mathematical Society (previously edited by Remitbuber) and uploading an image of Nicolás Atanes to Commons that was then added to the Nicolás Atanes article by Mikethesporty. Also see their promotion of Atanes at other projects (e.g. at Simple Wikipedia). — MarkH21talk 18:09, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Supro23, please see my comment below to Theklan - unfortunately, due to the nature of the disruption that the person behind the abusive accounts engaged in before, these accounts were escalated from English Wikipedia, and have been globally locked out of all Wikimedia projects. We don't have the technical ability to undo that here - a request will need to be raised on meta. I'm hoping that Theklan will be familiar with that process. I am also a teacher, and I'm sorry this has disrupted your project - please pass on my apologies and best wishes to your students, I hope this is resolved soon. @Bbb23, Girth Summit, and Dreamy Jazz: Hello! Most of this (I can't confirm for Williams717 but it should also be) are students in the same classroom doing this Wikipedia assingment: https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/I%C3%B1aki_Ochoa_de_Olza_DBHI/Wikiemakume_Dominadunak. They obviously share the same IP because they are in the same place with the same WiFi doing things together in the same classroom. Would it be possible to unblock them? Thanks. -Theklan (talk) 14:53, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sheesh. Because the account who also uses these IPs and devices has engaged in cross-wiki disruption, all of these accounts are globally locked now - unblocking at this end won't help, you'll need to make a request on meta and explain the situation to the Stewards. I'd suggest being very careful to ensure that you only request this on the accounts that you're sure about, we don't want to give whoever is behind the abusive accounts a free pass. Apologies for the disruption to your project. Girth Summit (blether) 15:06, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see that the school project unlocks complicate things now, but this account just recreated 2022 International Congress of Mathematicians (with the same date-month-year overlinking as the various iterations of Nicolás Atanes and Virus Matemático) for the third time after two attempts by two confirmed Remitbuber socks. This account only did so after a few dummy edits to articles about activism (in line with previous sock interests, e.g. Greta Thunberg) and related es.wiki edits.

Perhaps this account is related to Remitbuber but separate from the school project accounts that were just unlocked? — MarkH21talk 19:58, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Created Virus Matemático which is an old favourite of the original master as well as confirmed sock User:Gibra191. A sleeper check hasn't been run since 26 Dec 2021 so worth another one in my view. A quick browse of this new account shows that they are mainly interested in Spanish mathematics so the overlap is clear with all previous socks. Appears to be back at work on International Congress of Mathematicians [16] and restoring deleted pages [17] which claims to be translated from FR, when it is clearly not ("Referencias" being Spanish). VernoWhitney (talk) 15:54, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Has edited the page New Math in a similar way Remitbuber has done in the past [18]. On eswiki, he's been busy creating and recreating articles about Spanish socialist youth politicians and others related to the movement. The IP created a stub on an old favorite of this user, Nicolás Atanes (who is related to yet another favorite of his Greta Thunberg) on the Aragonese Wiki. Gimaronav created Draft:Carla Caro; the same article was recently created on eswiki by Criguetman, a locked sock of Remitbuber. Editing in the sockmaster's usual topic area of Spanish mathematicians. Spicy (talk) 04:23, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is creating Spanish mathematical articles at quick pace. These articles are translations of ast.wiki or canned copies. In addition, the articles translated were created or expanded to form on ast.wiki by Remitbuber socks. Examples:

Castilian Manchego Society of Mathematics Teachers was created by Fragarkla using an image uploaded by sock and that was created on ast.wiki by Gibra191 who is confirmed sock here.

Andalusian Society of Mathematics Education was created by Fragarkla also uses image uploaded by confirmed sock and was expanded on ast.wiki by a different Remitbuber sock.

Aragonese Society of Mathematics Teachers was created by Fragarkla, uses an image uploaded by a sock and was created on ast.wiki by the same sock. Pikavoom Talk 15:36, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you User:Bbb23 for the blocking and tagging, I wasn't sure my evidence was strong enough without CU confirmation. I still suggest running a CU because the 14 May 2022 uncovered more than 10 accounts, as it appears these socks come in a wolf pack of sorts across articles, Wikipedias, and Commons. This is a new account that is rapidly creating stub articles on topics related to mathematics education ([19]), which is the same behaviour as previous socks such as Fragarkla and Pilcrama. The sockmaster is known to be Spanish and this account states that they live in Spain on their userpage. They also mention editing the Spanish and Catalan Wikipedias, but they have never edited there - however, previous Remitbuber socks have. Spicy (talk) 17:43, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Overlaps with User:Kanaessu on Navarra Televisión Awards and Navarra Televisión.

On their own talk page, signs posts in a similar way; note the use of '--' prior to signing their name. Kanaessu and Heactuallyknows. Also, the rapid creation of Spanish articles is very similar to plenty of previous socks. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 16:13, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you've got something more than using "--" in their signature, otherwise I'm a sock too :-) -- RoySmith (talk) 16:44, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As per User talk:Fragarkla and User talk:Martarodriguezsarasa it's just one of the many things that all Remitbuber socks have in common, it's not so much the '--' but rather the use of their talk page almost like a Twitter page with the social media-style updates. The biggest giveaway is the rapid Spanish stub creation, though. There is a small chance that I'm completely wrong here but, unfortunately, my gut feeling with Remitbuber usually turns out to be correct. I also completely agree with Robert McClenon below, not something that I spotted myself when reviewing the evidence. Quite damning. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 17:10, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, worth noting that French Wikipedia has blocked them indefinitely for apparently being a sock; not great with the details, though, and doesn't seem to mention the person that they are a sock for. See here. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 17:16, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • CU conflict again Roy - I just blocked them. Editing out of ranges that Remitbuber has been on recently, behavioural similarities, article overlap - that's enough for me. I've requested lock. Girth Summit (blether) 17:38, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, this is a little confusing. Starting with the simple stuff are  Confirmed to each other. They are  Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely) to a bunch of socks I see in our notes (Remitbubereselmejor, MnckjdncjkhecbjhewREMITBUBER, Nvekejnefj, Abajowikipdi, Quesiquesoyuntiterederemitbuber, Pilcabro, Grilando) but these are all accounts that have been reported on es.wiki, not on en.wiki. They're also  Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely) (in a different way) to the bunch I blocked in 14 October 2022. Sorry I can't provide any more clarity than that. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:56, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I see Girth and I were working this in parallel. His block seems perfectly reasonable to me. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:58, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I saw the ICMhistory account, but we've had false positives in this case in the past since Remitbuber often edits from shared IPs (attached to an educational institution, if I remember correctly) - I was going to AGF on that account since it hasn't edited. Created Mathematics in the street, which is well within Remitbuber's commonly edited topics. Has a preference for using Spanish sources and leaning towards Spanish-related coverage, just like Remitbuber. —*Fehufangą (✉ Talk · ✎ Contribs) 22:49, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Now locked as a Remitbuber sock.  Clerk endorsed for a local sleeper check as they frequently use multiple accounts. Thanks, Spicy (talk) 15:28, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is a messy case because (as noted in 03 December 2022 and 26 October 2021), there's an IP that's shared by an educational institution, where we've have a number of legitimate accounts accidentally blocked as Remitbuber socks in the past. Given that this account is already glocked, there doesn't seem to be much urgency here, so I'm just going to close this without doing any more digging. FWIW, on the CU data alone, I'd say Popmath is  Highly likely to be Remitbubuer. I know it's frustrating to keep chasing this guy, but I'd rather err on the side of caution rather than risk accidentally blocking another bunch of innocent students working on a class project. We may need to move to page protection as our primary tool on this one. -- RoySmith (talk) 16:41, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
