One death that happened at the very end of the previous week takes the top spot, bringing along two other entries. The American midterm elections have a strong presence. And entertainment continues strong, from sports to the return of that show that brings in views for British royals.

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
1 Aaron Carter 4,200,862 Aaron Carter started singing as a child, at 10 he was already releasing an album thanks to his older brother (#10) being a
Backstreet Boy - Carter would serve as an opening act for both them and Britney Spears - and in the last few years showed the same derailed path of many former child stars (the "Personal Life" section here includes subsections on Legal issues, Health and Controversies, along with the fact he opened an OnlyFans account to sell naked pictures!). But sadly he's now dead at 34, being found lifeless in a bathtub, leaving behind one son and six studio albums (with the last one
being originally scheduled for his birthday in December, before his death made the producers suddenly release it supposedly as an homage, to the complaints of Carter's management about doing this without asking for their permission first).
2 ICC Men's T20 World Cup 3,087,853 This week saw the semi-finals (although not technically the final, which I am currently watching, and which I am holding back until next week). The first saw Pakistan comfortably defeat New Zealand, and the second saw England breeze past India. This set up a final between England and Pakistan, inspiring a lot of comparisons to the
Black Ferns did win
, so I can't complain too much.
3 Black Panther: Wakanda Forever 2,168,881 The last
Wakanda as it is attacked by mermen led by Namor. The unexpected death of Chadwick Boseman looms hard over Wakanda Forever, with the script trying to compensate the lack of main character T'Challa
by giving plots to just about everyone, leading to a bloated running time. Still, the emotional tributes and the expected action, cool visuals and jokes earned a warm response from reviewers and audiences, and it should be making lots of money at the box office.
4 John Fetterman 1,770,289 The lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania briefly became Democrats' favourite politician after winning Pennsylvania's open Senate seat. Fetterman ran a campaign perhaps defined most by his prolific use of memes, with policies such as universal healthcare, the decriminalisation of cannabis, and raising the minimum wage. He almost didn't survive the campaign after suffering a stroke in May which significantly impaired his speech processing, leading to an ugly debate over his fitness for office.
5 2022 United States elections 1,638,777 The fancy name for the midterms, which people presumably went to as a summary page for all the elections taking place.
6 Ron DeSantis 1,452,290 Florida governor won reelection by a significant margin, and has Donald Trump worried that the Republican Party might prefer DeSantis run for president in 2024.
7 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup 1,213,300 I'm not exactly sure why this article has been getting much lower viewership than the article about the general event (#2). I would guess it's from people looking up past results, but I'm really not sure.
8 Mohamed Al-Fayed 1,094,593
Season 5 of The Crown is here, and given it features the divorce of the current Charles III and Lady Di
, the person who viewers sought the most was her next in-law, an Egyptian businessman played in the show by Salim Daw.
9 2022 FIFA World Cup 1,089,960 No matter if it's in a questionable location that even forced the usual mid-year scheduling to be delayed to November-December, football's greatest event opens on the 21st, with teams already having issued the uniforms and squads that will appear in Qatar.
10
Nick Carter (singer)
974,178 #1's career was kickstarted by his older brother being one of the Backstreet Boys. Nick released a mourning statement that acknowledged he was heartbroken in spite of a tumultous relationship with Aaron due to his brother's drug addiction and mental illness, and downright cried as a London concert the day after Aaron's death featured a tribute.
11
Deaths in 2022
972,738 Let's just put one of the above's songs that he could sing for his late brother:
Tell me why I can't be there where you are
There's something missing in my heart
12 God of War Ragnarök 903,817 Kratos already slaughtered the Greek pantheon, so now the sequel to his departure to Scandinavia, issued for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, has him setting his sights on the Norse gods.
13
The Crown (season 5)
900,587 Netflix brought back the Elizabeth II show, with Her Majesty now played by Imelda Staunton.
14 Leslie Carter 870,427 The previous tragedy in #1 and #10's family is the middle child (third of five, followed by Aaron and his twin sister), a singer who suffered from depression and mental illness and died at just 25 in 2012 of what turned out to be an overdose.
15 Dodi Fayed 855,989 #13 shows Lady Di's divorce and her eventually replacing Charles with this guy (played in the show by Khalid Abdalla), the son of #8 who ended up dying with her in that fatal car crash (which is probably going to appear in season 6, even if showrunner Peter Morgan already discussed it elsewhere).
16 Kari Lake 810,921 Another noted midterms candidate, this one for the governor's office in Arizona. Republican Kari Lake's campaign was characterised by a lot of Trumpist stunts and a staunch refusal to accept the 2020 presidential election, as well as the possibility she might lose. If she does lose as looks likely, we can probably expect some pathetic attempt to protest the result.
17 Elon Musk 807,575 Twitter and its new boss continue to make a whole lot of noise, but it will take time to see if this eagle will soar or if it is a cuckoo.
18 Jeffrey Dahmer 798,779
2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine
. Thus these two articles are still a long way to overtake this long dead serial killer as the most viewed article of 2022. And this utterly revolts us.
19 Kevin Conroy 778,182 Black Adam fell off, so DC Comics owes an entry to their other man in black, for sad reasons: Conroy, hailed as the definitive Batman voice actor ever since Batman: The Animated Series, returning for among other things the Batman: Arkham video games, died at 66 of intestinal cancer.
20 Mehmet Oz 754,890 The guy #4 defeated for Pennsylvania's Senate seat. A TV quack doctor and presenter, Oz ran on the standard template of Republican stuff, with an endorsement from Trump carrying him to a win in the primary. His loss was one of several that made the former president look very bad, as many of his candidates failed or underperformed.
21 Love Today (2022 film) 744,691 Where would this list be without an example of India cinema. This week a
Tamil-language
love story is getting all the attention.
22 Sam Bankman-Fried 730,683 The cryptocurrency exchange
FTX
, which had been worth billions of dollars, suddenly collapsed this week after a news article about some shady stuff they were doing sparked an investor panic and run on the bank. This inspired a lot of views for its founder and now-ex-CEO.
23 Herschel Walker 703,324 This former NFL star took on Raphael Warnock for in Georgia's Senate election, but didn't make it, so the race will head to a runoff. Turns out fielding a candidate with so many scandals and gaffes he seemed to produce them as a basic function of nature was a bad idea.
24 2022 FIFA World Cup squads 652,902 #9's first carry-on article, as people query as to who has been selected to play for their nations.
25 Sally McNeil 642,554 Crime doesn't pay, unless it is another show about murder getting big ratings for Netflix.
