Bakharz (Persian: باخرز, also known as Ostā-ye Bākharz (استای باخرز), Ostād, Ostād Bākharz, Ostay, and Usta)^[3] is a city in the Central District of Bakharz County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.^[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 6,854 in 1,661 households, when it was in the former Bakharz District of Taybad County).^[5] The following census in 2011 counted 8,392 people in 2,134 households,^[6] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Bakharz County.^[4] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 9,044 people in 2,536 households.^[2]
