Bridgwater Without is a civil parish in the Sedgemoor district of Somerset, England.

It lies to the east and south west of Bridgwater. The parish includes the villages and hamlets of Dunwear, Horsey and Slape Cross. In 2011 the parish had a population of 428, however, if including the newly built suburb of Bridgwater: Willow Down, the population is 1,843.[1]

Governance

The parish council's role also includes initiating projects for the maintenance and repair of parish facilities, as well as consulting with the district council on the maintenance, repair, and improvement of highways, drainage, footpaths, public transport, and street cleaning. Conservation matters (including trees and listed buildings) and environmental issues are also the responsibility of the council.

The village formerly within the Non-metropolitan district of Sedgemoor, which was formed on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, having previously been part of Bridgwater Rural District,[2] In April 2023 it was replaced by Somerset Council, a unitary authority for all of Somerset.
