Capo Murro di Porco Lighthouse (Italian: Faro di Capo Murro di Porco) is an active lighthouse located at the end of the Maddalena Peninsula [it] on the south eastern tip of Sicily in the Area marina protetta Plemmirio [it], municipality of Siracusa on the Ionian Sea.

Description

The lighthouse, built in 1859 under the

Marina Militare with the identification code number 2910 E.F.[2]

In December 2020, a photo taken by photographer Kevin Saragozza of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in the background of the lighthouse, was chosen as the "Photo of the Day" by NASA for the Astronomy Picture of the Day.[3][4]
