The

Venerable James Francis Howson (1856–1934) was Archdeacon of Craven from 1928 to 1934.[2]

Howson was born into an ecclesiastical family.

He was educated at

ordained in 1879.[7][8] After curacies at Beverley, Halesowen and Lambeth he was Vicar of New Brighton,[9][10] Chester[11][12] and Guiseley[13] (during which time he was also a temporary Chaplain to the Forces[14][15]) before his years as an Archdeacon.[16]
He died on 19 February 1934.[17]
