Johnny Furphy (born December 7, 2004) is an Australian college basketball player for the Kansas Jayhawks of the Big 12 Conference.
Early life
Furphy was born and grew up in Melbourne, Australia.[1] Furphy attended the Basketball Australia Centre for Excellence (CoE) at the Australian Institute of Sport.[2] Furphy averaged 14.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 12 games during his final season at CoE.[3] He committed to play college basketball in the United States for Kansas.[4]
College career
Furphy entered his freshman season at Kansas as a key reserve
wing.[5] He made his first collegiate start on January 13, 2024, against ninth-ranked Oklahoma and scored seven points in a 78–66 win.[6] Furphy was named to the Big 12 Conference All-Freshman team at the end of the regular season.[7]
