History

The first settlement at Manvel was made in the 1860s on a stagecoach route.[5] Manvel was laid out in 1881 when the railroad was extended to that point.^[6] The city was named for a Great Northern Railway passenger agent named Allen A. Manvel.^[7] A post office has been in operation at Manvel since 1882.^[8]
