According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 48.7 square miles (126.1 km2), of which 48.1 square miles (124.6 km2) is land and 0.54 square miles (1.4 km2), or 1.15%, is water.[4]
History
The old Coolidge store, run by
Plymouth was one of thirteen Vermont towns isolated by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011.[6]

The average household size was 2.21 and the average family size was 2.59.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 18.0% under the age of 18, 2.9% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 33.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females, there were 110.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.8 males.
