Failure to maintain

The portal currently fails to meet the required standards of the Featured portal criteria, in particular 1(d) (well-maintained). "Featured portals that require maintenance and are not updated for three or more months are summarily demoted." I see the following problems:

  1. The "selected picture" for September is a redlink, as it was in August, July and June
  2. The "selected article" has been Initiative since October 2008
  3. The "selected biography" has been Geert Wilders since November 2009
  4. The "selected quote" has been one of Wilders' utterances (remarkable variety in the portal, don't you think?) since December 2009

I will leave messages at the portal's associated WikiProjects and see whether there are any improvements quickly, otherwise a visit to Featured Portal Review looms... It would probably be a good idea to have a look at some of the recent Featured Portals to see how to use a system of random subpages so that manual or monthly updates are no longer necessary.

Lack of Consistency with Democracy

The Democracy page notes several forms of Democracy, yet almost non of those are noted sub lists of Democracy on the list of Governments bar on the side (linking to the politics portal). To me, it seems that this lack of congruence could be problematic. Sovereignlance (talk) 05:57, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

750th anniversary of De Montfort's Parliament

20th January 2015 is the 750th anniversary of the first English Parliament.[1] However the article

De Montfort's Parliament is not eligible for Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/January 20
because it's tagged with refimprove. Would anyone be able to help clean this up?

The BBC [2] are planning a "Democracy Day" of live events, discussions and debate, produced in partnership with the Speaker’s Office of the House of Commons, including broadcasts from inside Westminster. Whizz40 (talk) 09:30, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article is being improved and is selected for the January 20th anniversary. Whizz40 (talk) 20:56, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

List of political parties by region - far too specific

Hello, I have noticed that the list of political parties has been divided into continents and even more arbitrary regions of continents. The problem is that ll the sata can fit on one page which would also allow comparing political systems, unlike it is now. Can someone delete this pages and collate them, please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.144.220.183 (talk) 17:17, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Portal:Government already redirects here, but government and politics are not identical concepts. There are many aspects of government which are, at least ideally, non-political. Changing the portal name would make it clear that all aspects of both areas fall within the coverage of this portal. bd2412 T 03:50, 5 September 2019 (UTC)--Relisted. – Ammarpad (talk) 13:43, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply
