He was a former one according to this site. I'll add it to the article, at least a category.Malick78 10:28, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Homosexual pedophile
Does "Homosexual pedophile" equal "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender (LGBT)"? We don't have a category for"Homosexual pedophile", but that would seem more accurate. Will Bebacktalk 00:23, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I believe "homosexual" is just a more general term that covers the more specific terms "lesbian" and "gay". Or are you saying he was not homosexual, but since the victims of his pedophilia were males as he was, the "homosexual" simply describes the crimes and not the person? Absent a further source, either is probably a reasonable interpretation. Good Ol’factory(talk) 00:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
He said he's a "homosexual pedophile". He did not say that he was a gay man. If we feel a need to categorize him by sexual orientation, then "homosexual pedophile" would be the accurate term. Will Bebacktalk 01:03, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
True, but in this case he is a man and "homosexual" = "gay", unless the word "homosexual" is describing the targets of the crime rather than the person. If someone calls themself "homosexual", then they are appropriately categorized as an "LGBT person". The question is what the word "homosexual" is describing. There is no category for the more specific "homosexual pedophile" class of people. Good Ol’factory(talk) 02:09, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"Homosexual pedophile" does not equal "gay". Gay men are attracted to other men. Homosexual pedophiles are attracted to little boys. Will Bebacktalk 04:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"Homosexual" was Bishop's word, not mine, and if you read carefully, I did not equate the phrase "homosexual pedophile" with "gay". Think more broadly: a pedophile is not necessarily exclusively attracted to non-adult people. It's possible for a person to be a gay man and a pedophile w.r.t. boys, just as it's possible for a heterosexual man to also be a pedophile. I think you're reading a bit too much into the issue and taking a definitive stand when it's actually ambiguous—that is why another source is needed. Good Ol’factory(talk) 04:50, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean to imply you were making that connection. I don't see any info on any sexual attraction to or relationships with adults. Also, fwiw, the citation's link is dead. A new links is here. I'm not sure if it's a reliable source - it seems to be an advocacy group. Will Bebacktalk 05:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Yeah, I think the miscommunication was just a conjunctive vs. disjunctive reading of the phrase.) I've seen his quote before, but the only place I've ever seen it quoted is in anti-pornography tracts and the like. It must have an original source somehwere, but I don't know where it is found. I'll look around for something a bit better than what's there now. Good Ol’factory(talk) 05:40, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that there's a need to include a long quote. A variety of quotes from him are included in the "trutv.com" site. Will Bebacktalk 06:33, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Probably true. My immediate searches aren't finding too much that is promising anyway. Good Ol’factory(talk) 06:52, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
