Penalty Section

The Penalty section describes the penalty but not the crime. We might assume that the penalty is for the crime of killing an eagle. But, the criminal act should be more explicitly defined here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.220.24.222 (talk) 10:34, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ben Franklin Section

It's been widely accepted for quite some time that the infamous "anti-eagle, pro-turkey" letter Franklin wrote was intended to be satirical and that he didn't actually/literally object to eagles or have a strong affinity for turkeys as a national symbol. He was drawing metaphorical comparisons of political parties of the day rather than the actual birds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.246.207.28 (talk) 23:12, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction of act

I am finding it difficult to find out how to properly reconstruct the information currently on this page. Does anyone have an suggestions? I am working on this article as a part of a course I am taking. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.Katebell17 (talk) 21:53, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also noticed that the current article is simply copied and pasted from another website. Is this common in Wikipedia? Coming from an more academic mind set this is somewhat a shock to me. Please correct me if this is allowed or normal on Wikipedia.Katebell17 (talk) 21:55, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work. I am going over your work and will improve the referencing. Any copy-paste is plagiarism and copyright violation. Please remove it if you see it. I am sure it can be reworked from the references. Also I did a Google Scholar search for the Act and find rather interesting cases of conflict of the Act and religious beliefs of Native Americans which might be worth including (see here and here) Shyamal (talk) 05:10, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have added the standard infobox templates but the entries need to be filled up appropriately. Shyamal (talk) 13:24, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have added more information on how and why the eagle became the US symbol and information as to what caused the downfall in population.Katebell17 (talk) 04:44, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, this article is a stub. I plan on reorganizing this article, in addition to adding more sections with detailed information. I also plan on adding more pictures, maps, and necessary graphs related to the section.NDave28 (talk) 19:37, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the suggestions above. I would also like to see this article be more informative since its a stub. I want to add more sections such as the laws that protect the eagles; elaborate on the three laws that protect the eagles, a section on eagle permits and talk about the non-purposeful take of eagles. This page looks much better. I particularly liked the massive expansion on the "Declination..." section. The new " Bald Eagle Recovery..." section is also very informative and very much needed. The "Permits" section is also informative and relevant.

Some recommendations:

The first thing I noticed is there are many minor issues in capitalization and spacing throughout the wiki. For example, either use" Bald Eagle" or " bald eagle" instead of " Bald eagle".

Also consider condensing and combining the two paragraphs under the " Penalty" section. Some info is redundant and the two paragraphs don't flow smoothly. Also, the table in the section doesn't feel like it belongs there.

Citations are confusing. For example,

"In contrast, J. F. Kennedy stated, "The Founding Fathers made an appropriate choice when they selected the bald eagle as the emblem of the nation. The fierce beauty and proud independence of this great bird aptly symbolizes the strength and freedom of America."[6 ] Clicking on superscript 6 takes you down to the "Notes" section, but no source. Where is the source of that quote from Kennedy? Sources should be properly cited and easy to access for readers.

I would consider adding a section discussing how this Act work with other overlapping Acts( Migratory Bird..." to protect the two species of eagles. And I am sure you can add more pictures to support some of the info discussed throughout the wiki. 75.139.146.241 (talk) 01:44, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Dtran420 (talk) 01:46, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking the time to review this article!..also i would like to point out that, the source of the quote from Kennedy is referenced, clearly if you look at the notes, it has the title, and if you scroll down, the title is there on the reference page

thank you! (UTC)NDave28 (talk)

Possible Article Edits

I noticed that parts of this article don't quite seem to line up with Wikipedia's standards (incorrect wording etc.). I would try and fix them myself, but I don't know enough about this and Wikipedia editing to do so. I'm also not entirely sure who cares about this anymore, as the talk page was last edited in September 2013...
