Dates

The statement that Bezalel Ashkenazi was born "toward the end of the sixteenth century" is inconsistent with other material in the article and with statements elsewhere giving his dates as circa 1520– circa 1592.[1][2] I don't have access to any scholarly source (most sources seem to copy each other), but if someone can look into Abraham David's To Come to the Land: Immigration and Settlement in 16th-Century Eretz-Israel. (translated 1999, U Alabama Press,

ISBN 978-0817309350) I'll bet euros to dollars a sound estimate of the birthdate will be there. For now, I am changing the statement in the Wikipedia article. Myron (talk) 15:58, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply

The quote "born toward the end of the sixteenth century" is given by the Jewish Encyclopedia article. However, this line is misleading as all other sources note he was born before 1550. Chesdovi (talk) 16:17, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
