I restored section Bob Melvin#Personal life --except its repeat use of identical references (Retrieved Jan 4, 2013; Nov 11, 2013), where I introduced short ref names.(net differences) Thus I restored current references 9–15.

MLB.com's article about the Padres hiring Melvin from 18 minutes ago is an unconfirmed report, not confirmation that it is official. The Padres are hiring Bob Melvin to be their new manager, two sources told MLB.com on Thursday night. Melvin has spent the past 11 seasons as A's manager.  Note: There are already multiple reliable sources stating that the Giants are about to announce Melvin as their new manager (see CBS and ESPN), but since the official announcement will probably be coming out in a few days or even hours, there's no point in using these sources now, as we'll replace them with the newer ones anyway.
