First non-Congress CM

I'm wondering if it is right to call Anna as

"first non Congress Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu"

as mentioned in the lead. Firstly, if we are going by Madras Presidency the first CM of the Presidency was itself not from Congress. If we take Tamil Nadu alone, then Annadurai is the first CM since establishing the state as TN. Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 12:07, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorted after a major rewrite. Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 18:39, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is said that CN Annadurai's mother tongue is Telugu, anyone please verify and add it in the main article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vakil123 (talkcontribs) 09:18, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the first non-Congress leader to form a majority government in independent India

Is this accurate? EMS Namboodiripad formed a non-congress government in Kerala in 1957. There is an contradiction with EMS's wikipedia page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.64.91.162 (talk) 14:22, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But EMS's CPI did not have a full majority on its own [1] which Annadurai's DMK did. The article spells out the word majority to make this point. Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 12:26, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conversation with IP 59.96.27.244

(moved from User talk:59.96.27.244) I have taken out the sentence from Annadurai's article for now. Though supported by the ref, it is vaguely worded. What exactly is your objection?. (The meaning the ref should have conveyed is this - Anna was a senguntha mudaliar; a relatively higher caste; but he included Dalits and other lower castes in the DMK's demand of demand for social justice/reservation; thus DMK;s support base expanded to those sections). I will add this later with a more direct reference.--Sodabottle (talk) 12:41, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

maybe. i know that sengunthars are associated wid tha devadsis.here is my proof 1.[2] 2.[3].

i read somewhere dat annadurai sympathetic abt the isai vellars as they were actually part of the sengunthar caste once.google for this line u ll surely find it..

Ok what does it have to do with adding a cn to this particular line?. How does Isai vellalars being related to Senguthars affect that particular line?. Can you explain further?--Sodabottle (talk) 12:56, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

first of all sengunthars were not respected as a high caste like other mudaliars. they were known as a artisan caste n were not even respected by the untouchables.they were a weird powerless caste.rise of anna gave them some reputation.everyone frm erode knows dis.u can find many googlebooks based on my arguement

Oh ok. You are objecting to terming sengunthars as "higher castes". Now its clear. the reference says "Though a member of the upper Mudaliar caste", and does not make the distincution between sengunthars and others. I have removed the mention of "higher caste" now. i have removed the adjective as this article is not the place to debate where Sengunthars stood in the caste hierarchy. Thanks for pointing this out. Next time, please open a discussion in the talk page, as edit summaries are too short to understand the point you are making--Sodabottle (talk) 13:09, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

caste and religion

Annadurai's position on religions is too complex to be described in the infobox and hence it has been left empty. It is explained in detail in a separate section. And the caste is also mentioned, as he never denied nor make any attempts to hide his caste (whatever his ideological stance toward caste may be). It is a relevant piece of information in an encyclopedic article.--Sodabottle (talk) 09:32, 2 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]

though Annadurai is a tamilgudi sengundha mudhaliar(also called kaikolar) caste

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

There is an

RfC
on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine

consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 22:57, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply
