Illusionistic painting

The Fabritius page on the essentialvermeer.com site provides excellent commentaries on illusionistic painting -

trompe-l'oeil - and specifically on Fabritius's trompe-l'oeil painting The Goldfinch. I suggest excerpting or paraphrasing these commentaries in this article.Penelope Gordon (talk) 18:20, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply

Also, I suggest adding in greater awareness among the public of Fabritius' work, especially since the publication of the bestselling novel The Goldfinch. The Mauritshuis (re-opening on Friday), has moved this painting to a more prominent area in anticipation of its new fame. This can be read in this NY Times article.
