Logo information corrected

Link to all of Carolco Pictures' logos

Carolco logos
I've noticed that no one has done a section on the 3 logos that Carolco Pictures had from 1982-1995, so therefore, I decided to create one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vnisanian2001 (talk • contribs)
When I find the 1982 logo from First Blood...
I'm collecting all the Carolco logos and have spent the last few weeks trying to get every Carolco logo, I'm only missing the 1982 Carolco logo from First Blood currently. If people could add to the list it would be a great help. Only update this list if you know for sure that a lion is on a particular film - you have to have seen it - don't go by the dates.
My main quest here is to find the 1982 Carolco logo, but I'll create a list of all the Carolco logos I've looked at mean time. I've tried to capture each similar image in the same pose - so you can see the similarity/difference between them
I have captured all these images from the DVDs and the videos in question in order to verify which Carolco logo is on any particular film - please add to this list if you can, but only from first hand sources, i.e. from a DVD or video capture, what I am missing is a film with 1982 Carolco logo

Lupin III: The Mystery of Mamo and Mario and the Mob
I have two concerns:
1. Could somebody please delete the profile of
2. What did Carolco (or Warner Bros. Television) have to do with Mario and the Mob? Neither companies are listed in the IMDb profile of this.
- I have two answers:
- 1. That would be a bit too harsh for the one who's been doing it, and calling him/her a "jerk" is not good faith.
- 2. They were both on the IMDb profile for Mario and the Mob until recently, and the CLG Wiki page proves at least Carolco's involvement in the film. --Ryanasaurus0077 (talk) 15:50, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Name origin?
Anybody have any idea of the etymology of the word "Carolco?" I'm thinking it might be from another language, but I'm not sure. A Google search doesn't seem to reveal any relevant links besides those pertaining to the company. PBP (talk) 06:16, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Beyond my level of understanding
This too much for me to do from scratch anybody who can improve here are is a useful set of links. [1] Dwanyewest (talk) 05:04, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Reservoir Dogs
I could've sworn I saw a Carolco logo at the start of international trailers (e.g. the German trailer). Unfortunately, according to Wikipedia, if the only sources available are YouTube videos, it didn't happen! Even further to my chagrin, YouTube videos are the only places I could find a clear connection between Carolco and Reservoir Dogs--and they don't look doctored! (That said, I don't know whether a Carolco logo appeared on international prints of the film proper.) --Ryanasaurus007 (talk) 17:14, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Trailers aren't always correct -- distribution might change after a trailer was released. That said, I think the only connection between Reservoir Dogs and Carolco is that Live released Carolco's films on video, and Live also produced Reservoir Dogs. Trivialist (talk) 19:46, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Or could the Carolco logo have been on an early trailer that was later used for international markets (and the Carolco logo left intact)? --Ryanasaurus007 (talk) 03:59, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe. It's Carolco, all sort of crazy stuff could have happened. :) Trivialist (talk) 13:13, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Variety treasure trove
So I was just linked to a Variety search for the term "Carolco" for between 1976 and 1982 by a fellow logo lover, and you'll never guess what I found. The only problem is sorting the sources, the way I see it, but in any case, Carolco's early filmography just got bigger and now features a bunch of films I never suspected (and a few I did) to have Carolco's involvement. --Ryanasaurus007 (talk) 05:26, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Reversion of the Bloodmoon and YTINLV edits
Was that a false positive, by any chance? Because I'm pretty sure I had a good source for Bloodmoon, and as for Your Ticket Is Not Longer Valid I'd seen on IMDb that both Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna were among the credited crew members. --Ryanasaurus0077 (talk) 20:24, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
- The reference for Bloodmoon doesn't include any of the information you added; you didn't provide a source for 'Your Ticket Is No Longer Valid, and the changes to distribution credits don't make sense—if distribution was transferred from Carolco to another company, then there's no reason to list them here. stargate film rights info
here is what i propose
during Production, Carolco Pictures, the production company who was independatly financing and making the film, Stargate, sold off the rights to the film, Stargate, to Le Studio Canal+, while they sold the rights to the franchise off to Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich,[1] [2] [3] all In an attempt to raise more financing for the projected $90–100 million film, Cutthroat Island. Devlin and Emmerich gave the rights to the franchise to MGM when they were working on their 1996 film Independence Day[4], and MGM retains the domestic television rights. The rights to the Stargate film are owned by StudioCanal, the company who took over and finished production after they bought the rights to the film from carolco with Lions Gate Entertainment handling most distribution in international theatrical and worldwide home video releases, although Rialto Pictures handles domestic distribution under license from StudioCanal. can anyone please add this to the article?

No Meaning
I can't find a source for the Kassar quote that the Carolco name "has no meaning". It's in a couple other wikis (this article is their source, presumably) and a very amateur YouTube video entitled "The Rise and Fall of Carolco", but is not found in the linked article (of the same name) in the citation here.
