Written by myself

I have a book soon to be published and felt I should create a WP bio page because of the new interest the book is sure to generate. Both of my partners in winning a Pulitzer Prize in 2000 already have WP bio pages. I'm best suited to write this for the obvious reason that I know the facts, and I have a wealth of reliable sources to cite. It is written in a thoroughly straightforward way, with the barest of facts. Charles J. Hanley (talk) 15:20, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Will clarify chronology

Primefac, the career timeline has been rendered too unclear at several points -- e.g., suggesting I served as deputy managing editor in 1988, but not in 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992, as I did. Or it could be read that I was appointed in 1988 and am still in that position. Also, when was this Hanley in the Army -- after he retired? And isn't it strange that the AP's international news desk would be located in Albany, NY? Some more precise dates will clarify. With citations noting years of appointments. Charles J. If there's a reference that gives that information (as you demonstrated with that "first" claim) then by all means add it to the article and update the information accordingly. Primefac (talk) 18:23, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

External links

Primefac, were I to "list every video where he talks about a subject or one of his books" the article would go on forever. There's nothing wrong with listing a handful of links enabling the WP reader to get a look at and a listen to a bio article's subject, and to learn more in the process, in what is a pretty spare article. See journalists Seymour Hersh, Glenn Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill, Donald L. Barlett, Amy Goodman, Carl Bernstein et al. Charles J. Hanley (talk) 18:30, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, just seemed like arbitrary things were being included. Primefac (talk) 19:28, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
