Relative obscurity

Strange but true. I first came across him in 1973 and even at age 15 enjoyed The Paradox Men and The Ring of Ritornel immensely. However I only realised how good he was when I read The Rose 10 years later and as a result re-read the two earlier novels. They were even better than I remembered them.
