On 1 October 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved to List of chief ministers of the Australian Capital Territory. The result of the discussion was not moved.

His entry states that he is the first Chief Minister of the ACT, yet he is not listed in the entry for Chief Ministers of the ACT.

The Chief Minister of the ACT is not styled "The Honourable" because the ACT does not have a vice-regal representative (as the states and the Northern Territory do) to bestow such a title. He is just "Mr Jon Stanhope, MLA". Totally agree. Don't know how to fix it. Also the infobox is headed "Chief Minister of Australian Capital Territory". It needs a "the" after "of". A manual fix didn't seem to work. -- JackofOz (talk) 06:16, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that the article states that

There seems to be an internal inconsistency with the article. Introductory paragraph states "Unlike in other states and territories, the Chief Minister of the ACT is not nominally appointed by an Administrator or Vice-Regal, but elected directly by the Assembly." but information box states that appointment is by Quentin Bryce as Administrator. Having Quentin Bryce there is wrong. The G-G does not appoint the Chief Minister in the way that she appoints the Prime Minister. Once the election result is clear, and the assemby chooses the Chief Minister, the Speaker gazettes the decision and the G-G has nothing to do with it. She can overrule the decisions of the Legislative Assembly, on the advice of the federal government, under section 35 of the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988, and that appears to me to be her sole power in relation to the ACT. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 07:25, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

?The role of the Chief Minister is roughly equivalent to that of the Premiers of the states of Australia or the mayor of a local council.? False! Others have criminal responsibility - the Chief Minister would only ever face re-election, current minister voted took part in the vote to remove all responsibility but that of being elected.
