March 16 Description

Hi - re the recent change to the March 16 attacks, I think the original description I gave is preferable...

*March 16: Three suicide bombers driving chlorine-laden trucks wounded hundreds of Iraqis in co-ordinated attacks across Al Anbar province. Fatality reports ranged from two to six. In the first attack, a driver exploded his pickup truck at a checkpoint northeast of Ramadi, wounding two. The second explosion was caused by a dump truck in Amiriyah south of Fallujah, resulting in the death of two policemen and leaving up to 100 residents displaying signs of chlorine exposure. In the the third bombing, a dump truck containing 200-gallons of chlorine exploded in the Albu Issa tribal region south of Fallujah, wounding 250.[1]

The current description as it appears on the main page gives the wrong sequence of attacks (claiming the Ramadi attack was third, when it was in fact first), and it also has misleading data regarding injuries (seeming to suggest that the third attack alone injured 350, when this is in fact the injury count for all three attacks). Also, I do not see why Yahoo News is not a preferable news source - the story is a detailed & retrospective feed from AP, as opposed to the Scotsman & BBC feeds which provide fewer details of the attacks (for example, neither of them claiming that the Ramadi attack was a suicide bombing).

For accuracy, I prefer the above entry; but when I put it in earlier today it was promptly overwritten, so I'll leave it up to someone else to decide which is better. --M

Ok i've changed the paragraph to reflect the very good points you raise above. Also the yahoo news is a good source as you say because it names the AP author but is often looked on as being a lower quality source. Hypnosadist 09:20, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't know if we should include a section on efforts by CF to thwart attacks.
