Sebastião I was the reason that later Portuguese monarchs weren't crowned

The reason to why the Portuguese monarchs after 1640 did not wear the crown on top of their heads was out of respect to Dom Sebastião I, the Portuguese King-Crusader who died in 1578 and popular tradition told that one day would return to claim his throne. --Lecen (talk) 15:25, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
