Genres

I think the listing of genres from their metal period is a bit misleading. Grave New World was pretty much regular heavy metal, very much in the vein of Judas Priest, and especially Pooch's post-Discharge band Hell's Belles, and wasn't really glam unless you count the horrific vocals. Not to mention that they were never thrash when Cal started his AC/DC singing. Except for parts of Shootin' Up The World, those two albums were more simple heavy metal. The S/T reunion effort was also still very much in the metal vein, though D-beat had finally returned. Sort of a speed metal hybrid I guess. They only returned to their true hardcore roots and left all metal influence once Rat joined. Unless someone disagrees, I'm editing to reflect this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Durandal1717 (talkcontribs) 00:43, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The page currently lists Discharge as a crust band. My understanding is that Discharge were more a part of the UK 82 punk movement, and that crust came more with Amebix. Correct me if I'm wrong...
Dave Ellesmere was also known by the nick-name Bambi (I know I shared a flat with him!) He was also the drummer on the big 1980(?) tour that had the UK Subs, Discharge, Vice Squad and the Exploited. I am editing to include a link to 'Bambi'and the other bands he was involved with.
I agree. Although influential on the future crust movement, Discharge pre-existed that scene.

Also, should the EP's and the 7"s be listed seperatelly? I believe they should be combined, as the term Extended Play does not usually apply to punk rock bands.

removing intro line about country/genre of band
Hi, Some editors have been removed the opening line "were an Influential United Kingdom UK 82 Anarcho-punk band." I am not sure whether this editor's concern is the entire line, or just some parts of it. Regarding the term "influential", the question arises...is this Neutral Point of View (NPOV), as set out in the Wikipedia policies. I believe that the article itself shows that there have been a number of bands that have been influenced by Discharge's approach and style. As well, prominent bands have "covered" their songs. Regarding the reference the "United Kingdom", I think it is desirable for readers to know where the band comes from. If the editor in question is concerned that there is debate over the terms "UK 82" or "Anarcho-punk", then perhaps these terms could be hedged a bit, with a statement like "the band is often classified as a UK 82 or anarcho-punk band." Thanks for your inputNatMor 15:24, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it was just an editing error. If you notice, the line was removed at the same time as the infobox was added, and I think the markup text accidentally replaced the opening line. The line was not even edited to simply say "Discharge were a punk band". It was removed entirely, which seems like a mistake to me. Also, it has not been reverted since I re-added the line.
Conversationally, while I'm here, I'm going to change from "were" to "was" in accordance with Wikiproject Musicians. --Switch 14:18, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Article now much improved - partly because of the above comments.
