office succession

Remis Velisque The information I provided was accurate and did show that Rijna is still governor. Evelina Betancourt-Anthony, served as acting governor from 1 December 2015 to 30 November 2016 when Rijna was absent from the post. As of Rijna's return, Anthony is the Deputy Lieutenant Governor and steps into his post whenever he must leave the island. Sourcing makes it very clear. Your reversion of my edits make it appear that his term has been uninterrupted, when in fact, he was absent from the post for an entire year. Your change leaves an inaccurate impression of his term, according to multiple sources. [1],[2], [3] I refuse to edit war with anyone. Please restore the information I added to the file about his absence. SusunW (talk) 14:06, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

SusunW The information you provided was inaccurate due to the fact that Evelina Betancourt-Anthony was only appointed waarnemend gezaghebber (acting governor) in the case Rijna was absent for brief durations like vacations, work trips, or other calls of duty. Every Island Governor has a waarnemend for that purpose e.g. Franklin Wilson [4] fills in for Jonathan Johnson from time to time. Rijna's term was never interrupted for a year which can be seen in multiple news sources throughout 2016. [5],[6], [7], [8], [9], [10] Sorry for undoing your edit without a thorough explanation. Thanks for the explanation, Remis Velisque so in essence, if I understand you correctly, she was made acting governor, which in essence made her the deputy lieutenant governor, not the officeholder and when the succession of office was formalized in 2017 the term became standardized? It is confusing, as the term "acting" in English usually means that they are the officeholder, while deputy or vice has the connotation of succession or filling in only when the governor is absent. Since she is his deputy lieutenant governor, I think it should be mentioned in his article and will fix hers to reflect that she was not the officeholder.
