Use of diacritics

Hello, Could someone tell me why the name of the island is spelled with diacritics (acute accents)? I see no reason for using French spelling, as though this island had specific connection with the French side of the condominium (which it has not). And whether in English or in Bislama, I've never seen this island being called with any other name than "Efate". [The same problem exists with WP's entry on "Émaé"]. Cheers, Womtelo 08:33, 13 November 2006 (UTC) I can't understand why this page isn't called "Efate" - I don't know any English or Bislama speakers who ever spell it this way, while many Francophones choose Vaté instead. Unless there's a complaint, or someone beats me to it, I propose to move the page back at the end of the month. Ringbark 22:05, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
