Bloated, Redundant

The article rambles off topic (a municipal district) to provide confused summations of history (often out of section context) of the development of the old city of Constantinople, and does so laced with subjective qualifiers. Much of the article needs to be recompiled, drafted, or junked.Mavigogun (talk) 05:10, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely agree (actually I wrote the same sometime ago...) By the way, this article deals with the old Fatih, before the incorporation of Eminönü... Go ahead! Cheers, Alex2006 (talk) 05:35, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Need to separate out Fatih, the local area, from Fatih the adinistrative district

Many of the pages for Istanbul suffer from the same problem which is that they conflate two completely different things - the specific neighbourhood with the name and the wider district with the same name. Also true, for example, of Beykoz and Üsküdar. In each case there needs to be a disambiguation page leading a) to the area withe the name and b) the district with the same name. I can easily sort this out once I'm allowed to make pages myself and not just correct the existing ones. Until then it is almost impossible to improve pages like this. I'm British so I'll compare it to conflating for example, Stafford with Staffordshire, or Hereford with Herefordshire. But I live in Turkey now so the distinctions are perfectly clear to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ealinggirl1954 (talkcontribs) 19:41, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
