Drum gift & band formation

In its original form, a sentence said

For his 14th birthday (1960), Gary receievd a set of drums. 4 Years later (1964), he formed a band with 4 friends.

This is nonsense, since his 15th birthday came in '60. While there is no other reason to doubt the general outline of this, none of these dates should be re-added without citing a WP-independent source.

POV and organization

Article needs a serious rework, there's a lot of puff in there about Lewis' stage presence and how great the music is, it reads too much like a fan wrote it. I also notice that apparently the same biography on Jerry Lewis is used as though it is separate references, so there are not nearly so many different sources as it appears. In general, article needs a lot of cleanup, both for sources, organization, and simple plain grammar. There's incomplete sentences in a couple of places, and it wouldn't surprise me if some stuff has been lifted from other sources. I may attempt some of teh repair if no on else gets to it first. Now that I look more closely, I'm finding that the puff is indeed the result of text being largely copied and pasted from sources. I'll delete and rephrase and recite as much as possible, and remove the POV tag. Echoedmyron (talk) 19:50, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Lewis birth year

The info box says July 31, 1945, apparently citing the one footnote source listed from the NYTimes obit of his father, Jerry Lewis. But in the opening line of Gary's article that says "Gary Lewis (born Gary Harold Lee Levitch; July 31, 1945[2][3])", both those footnotes say 1946, as does the online site "What Happened on July 31, 1946" ("Gary Lewis [Levitch], American singer (Gary Lewis & the Playboys) born in Newark, New Jersey"). The same mistake is found in the Wikipedia article on his father, Jerry, which says Gary was born in 1945, although the footnote for that actually says 1946. (This should also solve the puzzle of the talk-section above, "Drum Gift & Band Information", from 2006; since Gary was born in 1946, then it would be his 14th birthday in 1960, not his 15th birthday.) (And yes, I guess someone could call Gary himself at his home in Rush, New York, although I guess that would be against Wikipedia rules.) 71.204.24.132 (talk) 23:03, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not having received an answer after three days or so, I went ahead and corrected the year-change (from 1945 to 1946). If anyone disagrees with this, please let me know. 71.204.24.132 (talk) 20:00, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
