Middle name

Added-I have it on good authority that Gilbert's middle name is not Jay. This needs to be checked.--

Pictures

How can I add my personally copyrighted pictures of Gilbert Arenas to encyclopedia article? --Josh Dunkelman 01:10, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Josh Dunkelman[reply]

did you take them yourself?--Alhutch 08:43, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did take them myself. I attend many Wizards games and have a digital camera. Josh Dunkelman 18:30, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Josh Dunkelman[reply]

well, under the search bar on the left of your wikipedia screen, there's the toolbox. there should be an "upload file" link there. you can upload the file there and choose whatever licensing you want, whether you want them to be freely distributable or you want to retain the copyright. then you can add them to the article by typing [[File:(name of your image).jpg]] in the article. let me know if you have any problems doing it or any more questions.--Alhutch 18:39, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Needs alot of Clean up

  • I have found that this article needs alot of clean up. There is alot of POV, and uncessary information regarding the man. Weasle words such as "His Critics point out" has nothing to do with biography. Limited playmaking ability? Who said that? You MUST Cite it. Leave the FANFare out of the article.

  • I'm going to try and do a lot of cleanup on this article, at least in terms of the content. Hopefully when I'm done the article will be a lot more coherent. There's a lot of good stuff in this article, but it clearly was written by many different authors and needs some to go through and mesh it all together. Hopefully I can do that. I just started with the intro but I will get to everything.

One thing that I would like to get into more is Arenas rapid ascent to basketball super stardom. "Super stardom" is a subjective term - I certainly realize that - but a very real transformation happened last winter. A truly perfect storm of events occurred that catapulted Gilbert up in the public consciousness - the 50 point games, the game winners against the Jazz and Milwaulkee, the party hosted by Diddy, the rise of the basketball blogsphere etc. As Slam magazine put it, Gilbert is the first blog superstar. Gilbert became a superstar differently - and more quickly- than anyone other basketball player before him. The unprecedented deficit he overcame against Vince Carter to start in the all-star game is testament to this. I think this article, while remaining a neutral source, should tell that story. 24.125.41.223 23:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just from reading the lead I'll say this page still needs a lot of cleanup. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.125.70.208 (talk) 22:39, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I can clean up the first sentence.I'll change "former American basketball player" it flows better than "an American former basketball player"Nickxshew (talk) 06:09, 22 February 2019 (UTC)Nickxshew[reply]

Proof Required

"An example of his quirky behavior includes during a regular season game, his attempt to make a free-throw by bouncing his shot off the floor, which missed badly and drew confused stares from the entire stadium -- everyone wondering if that was an actual free-throw attempt."

As a Wizards fan, I can't remember this ever happening. If someone can show me, I'd be glad to admit that I missed it. I just don't remember that and the article is missing a citation. If it can't be backed up, it should probably be removed. Thanks.

46 pts in 30 minutes

How is this a record? Kobe Bryant had 30 points in the 3rd quarter of that 62-pt Mavs game in December. Add that to his 17 from the previous quarter and that is 47 pts in 24 minutes...

Yeah, I was about to ask the same thing. --Bender235 20:35, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
46 points in 30 minutes played in the entire game. --Jmfh3733 July 19, 2007
The box score for that game says he played 30:16, and the recap does not mention anything about this being a record. Also I'm confused about the shot clock era disclaimer... usually sportscasters talk about numbers being the "Lowest since the shot clock (1954)" etc. — CharlotteWebb 09:48, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Career at Arizona

Kinda interested in this. Can someone add this to the page?--Lasersharp 18:38, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the comment about his jersey number from saying his agent claimed he would play 0 minutes to his critics saying that during his college, which is true according to his nba.com profile page. I believe this was a statement only about his freshman year, however, but could not find a source to cite. If anyone does, could they add it? --LionHearToiler 10:46, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth

I was skimming this article and the infobox and the beginning of the article featured different birthyears. Can the right one be put in for both? Thanks 71.99.127.127 12:52, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gilbert's Little Brother"

There is a comment on this page regarding Gilbert Arenas's meeting a young boy and taking him in as his little brother. I found this website that refers to how the two met: http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Arenas/Arenas_numbers.html but I do not know how to add it as a reference citation for this page. Also, on 1-14-07 at 6:00 p.m. I saw an episode of Sportscenter Presents: Stories of Inspiration which featured Gilbert Arenas (and others). In this episode, the little boy talks about the tragic fire that killed his family and how he has bonded with Gilbert. Unfortunately there is no direct website for this show. This would be another source for the "little brother" trivia comment. Any clues? —The preceding

Not done If you "don't need X changed to Y", you don't need to use this template, do you? KrakatoaKatie 06:35, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wait - are you talking about adding the text in the section above this one? I can't do that either, because you've drawn conclusions from the second source. Read the WaPo article again - nobody 'tried' to do anything. The lawyers 'threatened to serve', which is a big difference from 'tried to serve'. Reform your request, please. :-) KrakatoaKatie 06:41, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I really dont think that gilbert arenas was actually born in Los Angeles, California. Im pretty sure he was actually born somewhere in florida, then abandoned by his mother at the age of around 4. Then later on him and his dad moved to Los Angeles when he was around the age of 7.

Hi, alink to this Gilbert Arenas article will appear on the Wikipedia mainpage tonight at 7pmET, and remain for 12 hours.[10] So traffic will probably increase considerably. Just wanted to give you a heads-up! --Elonka 19:23, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

CBA stats

Hi, please have a look on this section, where says: Arenas averaged 20.7 points per game, 7.3 rebounds per game, and 3.0 assists per game in 27.3 minutes per game.

But if you see the stats below, it is not the case, which one is the correct one? thx --Patrickpedia (talk) 09:40, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
