Commander of anti-partisan detachment

Is this the same Dr Gustav Krukenberg as mentioned in the The Myth of the Eastern Front: The Nazi-Soviet War in American Popular Culture by Ronald Smelser and Edward J. Davies? K.e.coffman (talk) 04:23, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. I have never heard this article person called "Dr." before. Also, I know you have been relying on this one book a lot lately; be careful with that and do cross-check what they say with other RS sources.Kierzek (talk) 12:40, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Kierzek: Krukenberg had a PhD (Dr. jur.) in jurisprudence. So in German, he would be addressed as Dr. Krukenberg. MisterBee1966 (talk) 13:14, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. With that said, do you have any information as to what he did while assigned on the Ostfront. Kierzek (talk) 13:54, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some details on his 1941-1944 career in Anti-liberal Europe: A Neglected Story of Europeanization by Dieter Gosewinke - scroll to page 136. He served mostly as a quartermaster (responsible for supplies and also for prisoners) in Latvia, Byelorussia, Croatia, again Latvia. Gosewinke writes: "He spent a number of years very near the sites of German mass crimes. So he undoubtedly knew about them or maybe even participated in them. But he never spoke about that period, and he was never prosecuted." Should I add that in with attribution to Gosewinke?
Prior pages offer more details on Krukenberg's pre-war career. K.e.coffman (talk) 19:58, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the connection to Jeckeln and anti-partisan warfare: For Europe: The French Volunteers of the Waffen-SS by Robert Forbe (page 158). K.e.coffman (talk) 20:13, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
K.e. - I must have missed this posting; it is the same man. Kierzek (talk) 21:36, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So yes, the above should be added from both sources. Kierzek (talk) 13:39, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Phleps chief of staff

This appears to be the same Krukenberg as having served under Arthur Phleps, correct? Link: Hitler's Bandit Hunters. K.e.coffman (talk) 20:20, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it must be; some speculation as to what he knew or did not know; and as for the second part, I would not put weight on what Phleps had to say in his "rant"; but certainly it is clear they did not have a good working relationship. Kierzek (talk) 21:39, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
