Norman Carlberg

I dont believe the inclusion of Norman Carlberg on the see also list is necessary. If we include Norman Carlberg there would also need to be other artists who Seidler collaborated with on his projects listed also (eg, Alexander Calder, Jan Utzon etc...).

The exception to this would be Josef Albers. Seidler included works of Albers in a number of projects (notably the MLC Centre with 'Homage to the Square' and 'The Wrestle'). Yet Albers was one of the main teachers and mentors of Seidler and was quite influential on Seidlers design and asethetic philosophy.

You should sign comments. But anyway, I think it odd what you are happy to include and what not, what to emphasize and what not. Just look at the article overall. Its sections are "'Early life', 'Education', 'Life in Australia', 'Personal life', 'Controversy', and then some lists. His actual artistic activities are covered only as "controversy'. This is curiously lopsided and negative. I'm adding an 'artistic collaborations' section. You can add a "what's wrong with the artistic collaborations" section if you like. MarylandArtLover great addition of the 'artistic collaborations' section and I agree with you the article is biased with too much emphasis on Seidlers controversies. There needs to be sections on Seidlers buildings, influences and design philosophy. Mr Ash 23:53, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am concerned that this article has veered towards hagiography. For the record, I hate most of Seidler's work with a passion. If my bias was overly represented in this article I am happy to see it balanced by other views, but like it or not, Seidler was (and remains) a controversial figure who was far from being universally admired. He had the reputation in some quarters of being a bully ([1]) and critiques of his work and behaviour were widely covered in the media -- a case in point being his foolish 1980s defamation case over the notorious Patrick Cook cartoon. Simply eliminating any discussion of critical views is just as biased. This needs to be redressed IMO. Dunks (talk) 04:15, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unlisted building

Here is a building I see missed on the list.

3 wrong categories

there are 3 lists that are wrong for Harry Seidler - especially those to do with being Jewish as an architect and his life in Australia.

Harry Seidler is on public record (eg Shoah oral history project, SMH Good Weekend artcle by Craig McGregor 1990) saying his childhood was labelled jewish but he had no idea what it meant.

at Harvard University, he was indoctrinated with modernism and turned his back on any form of religious identity (he would tick 'no religion' on the census form) - so his life as an architect and in Australia cannot be characterised as Jewish.

so please remove Harry Seidler from the following categories as they are misleading:

Australian Jews - he was never Jewish for his life in Australia

Australian people of Romanian- Jewish descent - this is mistaken on 2 fronts -his paterinal grandfather was from Bukovina which at the time was a remote part of Austria-Hungary (which which only later after ww1 became part of Romania) so there was on immigration into Austria, so Seidler has no Romanian descent (it is anachornistic to say so. A 1998 biographer made an anachronistic mistake on this) + HS was not jewish for his later life in Australia.

Jewish architects - Seidler's childhood family religious connection has nothing to do with his adult life as an architect

Please remove his name from these 3 lists + these lists from his profile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pollyseidler (talkcontribs) 10:48, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
