not entirely altruistic

This is how Vermont's abolition of slavery is described. However no other motivation is then given. Rather we are told that there were in reality limitations to the abolition. But this is not the same thing as been motivated by something other than altruism. If I give you $5 and then claim I gave you $10, you can call me dishonest, but you cannot say my giving you the $5 was not altruistic. That is a different claim. So if the claim is to stand, it need substantiation beyond a statement about the limitations of ostensible abolition. LastDodo (talk) 12:25, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I had exactly the same question... 208.125.143.178 (talk) 19:26, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is a quote from the Smithsonian's National Museum of African-American History and Culture, what's the problem? It says what it says. --StellarNerd (talk) 19:50, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
