History of Howard immigration

By adding the history of immigration under the Howard government (seen here), we will need to expand it to provide the whole story. That is, the initial reduction in the first years of the Howard government was due to cuts to family reunion visas, followed by the later increase in skilled 457 visas. The change in ethnic mix is also noteworthy, as when Howard came to power he halved the proportion of immigrants coming from Asian countries, which was increased somewhat later in his term. There were also business groups lobbying hard for the increase in 457 visas.--Lester 21:36, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
