Vlad fedorov's vandalism

Yeltsin has two daughters: Yelena Okulova and Tatiana Dyachenko, married to Valery Okulov and Valenitin Yumashev/Alexey Dyachenko/Vilen Khayrullin. User:Vlad fedorov, please stop adding nonsense to Wikipedia. Colchicum 19:16, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Russian title

StradivariusTV, please don't change the name. To mark the stress in the article headword is a tradition of Russian dictionaries, but the acute sign is not part of the Russian orthography. The actual name of the newspaper is "Известия" and nothing else. Blind copy-pasting of the bold headwords (instead of the actual titles) of Russian articles is a plague of Wikipedia. Hellerick (talk) 03:01, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Then how else should the stress of the word be indicated? Strad (talk) 06:39, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And why it should be indicated? It's Russian, not Spanish or Greek. Hellerick (talk) 11:28, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For the same reason it's indicated on the Russian Wikipedia: because Russian stress is not predictable. It's not Polish or Welsh, where you can predict where the stress goes. The information needs to be there somewhere. Strad (talk) 19:14, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So what? Most Wikipedia articles don't tell where the stress falls, why we should bother here? Of course, if you want to tell how the word is pronounced, you can do it — with IPA: /ɪzˈvʲestʲɪjə/. Hellerick (talk) 03:01, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Strad (talk) 06:24, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The word "izvestiya"

Why do you think that the noun "izvestiya" is derived from the verb "izveshchat", not the other way around? Eugalt (talk) 01:00, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
