A short intro, sarkar is perhaps the most prolific writer when it comes to talking about military engagements in Indian history. The only ones that thoroughly exceed him are kaushik roy (who has written over a dozen books focused on the military history of India) and RC Majumdar who has explained the entire history of India from prehistoric times till the 20th century.

Sarkars works have a touch of eloquence (no wonder given his admiration of the English) and come fully packed with all the descriptions of battles and sieges. He has even given the exact location of most important battles, something he was able to verify for himself by extensively travelling all over the north, central and western India. His books are a delight for a military enthusiast, something that's missing or declining in most modern history books as the emphasis on political and cultural elements increase in the writings of all the heavyweights in this domain now. Even for his own time, sarkar's works are particularly full of action as his best friend sardesai used to explain battles briefly while sarkar left no stone unturned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theninjaraj (talkcontribs) 21:04, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
