Professor Macquarie's widow Jenny Macquarrie died in July 2008.

Before his death Professor Macquarie's library was sold to the Graduate Theological Foundation and transported to South Bend, Indiana. After his death his unpublished papers were deposited in the Bodleian Library, Oxford.
