I hope he wasn't placed under the Italian-Filipinos category merely because his Spanish surname suggests some Venetian ancestry. He may well be, but I'm not really sure.

To be safe, I removed him from the category. In the Philippines, having a surname such as Ocampo, Aragón, or Sevilla does not necessarily denote Galician, Aragonese, or Andalusian ancestry, respectively.

In light of all the wikilawyering I have been subjected to with regards to this matter, which is really counterproductive on my part, or on the main goal of "freely available information for all on wiki". I am now bent on not including the said "controversial speech" and personally deleting all entries made by me and all contents on the specific politician's page which were authored by me. I believe this is not the proper venue for it. The networks I contribute to, would gladly take-on the entire transcript at 5 dollars per word, which would be more beneficial for me, and would also pacify those who challenge the entries I made. I only included my blog as the source of the entries I made (vis-a-vis the recent speech), because like I said, this was posted as it happened fresh in congress and no other source was available at that very time. But yes, I understand the stand of Wiki. It only takes secondary to tertiary sourced information, especially on matters of biographical entries (of still living persons), to avoid possible erroneous and libelous entries. I also invoked the wiki I-A-R, because the prohibition on citing blogs as references, is of smaller essence than not being forthright and honest with the information that one adds, more so, because the entries I made concerns the alleged "speech" of another person. Not declaring oneself as its author, would constitute gossip in this case or suggest bad faith. Only cowards, or those with malevolent intentions would do so. To say the least, I consider this whole exercise as nitpicking and frivolous, and would not be contributory to anyone's growth or even advocate the cause of Wikipedia. Only creatures with unprofitable lives, dismal careers, attention-seekers, and dysfunctional families would engage in this endeavor. This is the right/wrong version

Due to the persistent reversals of some users who simply wish to join what seems to them an "edit war" and perhaps in the hope of artificially stirring-up a controversy and gain a so-called "authority" on the matter (if not unnecessary publicity) of the positive reversals I made you ended up protecting the right version...which when viewed from a non-partisan point of view may lead one to believe that this whole controversy was so ingeniously calculated to arrive at the very results now. During his speech at the House plenary, de Venecia said that three military generals visited his house. They were accompanied by Raul Lambino.

“General Santos, commanding general of the Philippine Army, commander of the United Nations Forces in East Timor, came to my house accompanied by Attorney Raul Lambino, who is his friend, and who is also my friend, and he said, 'Mr. Speaker you and your son [should] keep quiet because they want to kill you and I know they can kill you and I know they have killed other people,” said de Venecia.

De Venecia's son reported the incident to the Makati City police. The Speaker, meanwhile, wrote a letter to President Arroyo to ask her to do something about the threat on their lives.

“My son reported this to the Makati Police and in the same day following, General Santos, such a respected general of the Armed Forces, changed his tune and said he never said such a thing. How could he say that he never said such a thing when he came to my house to ask me to listen to his story, accompanied by Raul Lambino in the presence of my son Joey, in the presence of my wife Gina."

The Speaker said he asked Mrs. Arroyo in a letter to "please do something."

“So I wrote a letter to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Dear Madam President, I write to you because General Santos came to see me and said to me, and confessed to me that they wanted to kill myself and my son and that they have killed other people. I asked you because these three generals belonged to your government, please do something. That was late October of last year. Do you think up to know Malacanang has lifted a finger to arrest or to investigate these attempts on my life and of my son?” he said.

“It’s simple arrogance. Just plain arrogance that Malacañang and the people of the Palace are above the law. Someday this can happen to you,” he said. The speech was delivered hours after Palawan 2nd District Rep. Abraham Kahlil Mitra, An ally of Davao City Rep. Prospero Nograles, moved the speaker's position be declared vacant.
