I assume this is different than Karachay Autonomous Oblast. Are they related in some way given the similar names? RJFJR (talk) 16:01, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Karachay-Cherkess Autonomous Oblast was created in 1922 and existed until 1926, when it was split into Karachay Autonomous Oblast and Cherkess Okrug.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:08, January 5, 2009 (UTC)
