Continuing copyright issues

This article began as a copy of [1] (in a version which was speedily deleted), and I'm afraid it remains an unusable unauthorized derivative work of that source. For an example of close paraphrasing, consider the following:

According to the band's website, the music of Leprous is not an easy one to classify. Various genres are included, from progressive rock, to jazz, to pure metal. The vocals alternate between clean and growling, something which gives the music a heaviness it otherwise wouldn't have. To compare Leprous to other bands is practically impossible, but the closest comparisons would be bands such as Opeth, Arcturus, Porcupine Tree, Van Der Graaf Generator or Emperor. An interesting listening-experience for the open-minded music fan

There are other passages that also follow too closely in language and/or structure.

{{quotation|The young band started to gain popularity on the local prog scene as they made it twice in the finals in the Norwegian Rock Championship. A very big boost for the band, both in visibility but mostly in the musical experience (live, songs cmposition) is the fact that the young band members are currently working as a session band of solo artist Ihsahn, previous front figure of the legendary black metal band [[Emperor (band)|Emperor}}. The source says:

The young quintet have already made themselves visible on the Norwegian prog- and metal scene, and twice the band has made the finals in the Norwegian Rock Championship. Besides Leprous, the guys in Leprous are currently working as a session band of solo artist "Ihsahn", also known as the front figure of the legendary black metal band Emperor.

While facts are not copyrightable, creative elements of presentation - including both structure and language - are. So that it will not constitute a derivative work, this article should be rewritten in the temporary space that is now linked from the article's front. The essay Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing contains some suggestions for rewriting that may help avoid these issues. The article Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2009-04-13/Dispatches, while about plagiarism rather than copyright concerns, also contains some suggestions for reusing material from sources that may be helpful, beginning under "Avoiding plagiarism".

Hi, I guess we can remove the quote from their webpage (although I thought quotations would be allowed considering I mentioned the source). Also the other paragraph that begins with 'The young quintet' can be replaced by 'The band are currently working as a session live band of solo artist Ihsahn, previous front figure of the black metal band [[Emperor (band)|Emperor.' Could you please put the page back without the two paragraphs that make the subject of this copyright issue? Thanks Lakeoftearz (talk) 08:34, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I ask you to put the page back (even if a test page or so) since I didn't save the changes and can't remember how I rephrased it. Thanks Lakeoftearz (talk) 19:48, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again. I just noticed that the page wasn't actually removed. So I made the changes I mentioned earlier. Can the warning messages be removed now? Thanks Lakeoftearz (talk) 10:28, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

After examining Wikipedia's criteria for notability, I believe this article meets them.

Criterion #6: "Is an ensemble which contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable ensembles."

Leprous's song Thorn features Ihsahn as guest vocalist. Ihsahn is independently notable and has been in at least four different acts.

Their newest album, Bilateral, was mixed and mastered by

Pain Of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Symphony X
, and others. Jens Bogren is himself notable, and the listed bands are notable.

Criterion #9: "Has won or placed in a major music competition."

Leprous has twice made the finals of the Norwegian Rock Championship according to several sources. Unfortunately, I cannot find a direct source or page for the Norwegian Rock Championship itself.

Criterion #5: "Has released two or more albums on a major label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are notable)."

It doesn't appear that Leprous has released two or more records with a particular major label, but they released one with Sensory Records, which fits the history and roster criteria, and another with InsideOut/Century Media, which also fits the criteria.

I think this is sufficient, but it does appear to be arguable. I'll leave this here for a while, and then if nobody argues I'll go ahead and take the notability banner down. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pseudotriakis (talkcontribs) 13:42, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
