Bernie Sanders' Political Party

As of 2015, he has swapped political parties. He is now a registered democrat[1] rather than independent.

Jim Jeffords' section of the junior (class 1) Senators list notes that he changed political parties half way through his second term, I assume it should be this way for Bernie Sanders.

I was going to disagree. Then I read the article to which you linked. The money quote is "Sanders says he’ll run as a Democrat in future elections. He says, "I am running as a Democrat obviously, I am a Democrat now.""
I agree with you.

  • I Disagree. The Senate website still lists him as an Independent. There is no official designation of his party change. While it's tempting to go with campaign statements, I think Wikipedia would require a more official citation.—GoldRingChip 23:51, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
