The short title stated for this Act ["East India Company Act 1776 c. 8"] is not correct, as it has nothing at all to do with the East India Company. In fact, it's actually to do with importation of salt beef, pork, bacon, and butter from Ireland and British North America! Admittedly, I don't know if the error is Parliament's or whoever created the list, but it needs someone to check it. Silverhelm 19:12, 31 May 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Unfortunately as I haven't yet been able to find a source which lists acts using the proper citation, Acts are listed by year - so at the moment 16 Geo III and 17 Geo III are haphazardly mixed as the acts for 1776... I expect the act you're referring to is listed as "Importation Act 1776 c. 8". Kurando | ^_^ 08:20, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Statutes at Large has different chapter numbers to those on this list, and I suspect that some errors have crept in. Certainly there were not 78 public Acts of Parliament in 1707, in fact there were only 37. Richard75 (talk) 19:52, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The numbering here appears to be based on

Statutes at Large (based on the copies of acts enrolled in Chancery) – though neither is actually "wrong". As you say, however, I suspect a few errors and inconsistencies have crept in. I have just amended the Statute of Anne from 8 Ann. c. 19 to 8 Ann. c. 21, as otherwise there were two c. 19s in the list, and no c. 21. GrindtXX (talk) 12:57, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply

The note: "This section requires expansion with: missing acts c. 1 to c. 77. (May 2014)" is, I think, unnecessary. The earlier acts are those in 13 Geo. 3 1772. They are all from the same session of Parliament and are therefore numbered concurrently. For further information, see http://apps.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=061-hlpo_1-5&cid=1-1-1-7#1-1-1-7 I would remove the unnecessary note, but don't know if a rookie editor should, so I leave it to wiser minds. The Land Drainage (Black Sluice) Provisional Order Confirmation Act 1925 (15 & 16 Geo 5 c lxxi) may give the short titles of the Black Sluice Acts (1765, 1770, 1846, 1849 and 1880). See the First Schedule to the Bill for that Act: [1] [2]. James500 (talk) 15:51, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
