Additional Mayors?

According to The exception; the story of Ashland Oil & Refining Company (1968), "Wilburn Caskey, of our Purchasing Department, is serving a term as Mayor of Ashland." Thus, it would seem that Caskey served another term as Mayor (presumably from 1964 to 1968) after David Aronberg. Additionally, The Kentucky encyclopedia (1992) says that Charles H. Gartrell was Mayor from 1968-72. According to The Authors' Gift by Neil O'Donnell (2011), "Rudy Dunnigan is a sixty-nine year old, still practicing dentist, who ... has served two terms on the Ashland Board of Education and two terms as the Mayor of the City of Ashland," although it doesn't say when; Dr. Dunnigan graduated from Ashland High School in 1959 and from the University of Kentucky in 1969. --TruthOverload (talk) 00:27, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I've done a bit more research. From several issues of The Waterways journal it can be ascertained that the mayor of Ashland from at least 1976 to 1979 was David O. Welch, who is apparently still active in the community. Judging from a 1982 newspaper article which can be found here, Welch was followed by one Jack T. Thompson, who was mayor during the early eighties. According to several articles in the
Ashland Daily Independent, which can be found online, the most recent mayors have been Dr. Arlie "Rudy" Dunnigan (1993-2001), Paul Reeves (2001-02), Steve Gilmore (2002-08), and Thomas "Tom" E. Kelley (2008-present). --TruthOverload (talk) 14:26, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply
