It says "This is a comprehensive index of..." in the summary but there have been only 13 items added in the last 10 years, while 100s if not 1000s of games that fit this type have been released. I don't think it should say comprehensive or maybe it should say "somewhat comprehensive for games released before 2009".

Notes

The notes section was seriously screwed up, reference to games as squel of foo, 10 years before foo was even made so I removed 99% of the notes. Yakumo (talk) 20:53, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. Somehow the "Notes" column in my spreadsheet got messed up. I'll fix it tomorrow.

Hopefully I fixed everything. Any intermediary changes were lost, however.

Citations for early games

Early games were often just called strategy games, and people generally didn't worry so much about categorizing everything into a hundred different subgenres. This makes some games not really great candidates for entries on a standalone list, which requires sourcing. I've found some interesting sources, though. The most promising is CGW, May 1994, which has a round-up of science fiction strategy games from the mid 1980s through early 1990s, broken into "tactical", "strategic", and "operational" subgenres. It lists several games as "tactical simulations", including Breach, Breach 2, and Delta Squadron. It calls Fireteam 2200 "a detailed and complex wargame" with "tactical ground combat", and the descriptions of Galactic Gladiators and Starfleet Orion both mention tactical combat. This may be closest we can come to a usable contemporary source from the early years, and I think "tactical wargame" is pretty much a synonym for "turn-based tactics game". I'll just leave this here for now, though, to see if anyone else has thoughts. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 17:53, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
