There seems to be two existing variants of this composer's surname: Helmbold and Heimbold. As the dates of birth and death (1532 – 1598) are the same in all sources, I don't doubt they represent the same person.
Gerda Arendt created the article at the Helmbold surname in 2010 and Dr. Blofeld created the article at the Heimbold surname yesterday, so I'm pinging both of you to alert you to the situation. Apologies if you were already aware. I'm no expert but I can read enough German to see that both variants cover the same subject. I find that there are about 6000 ghits for "Ludwig Helmbold" and 150 for ghits for "Ludwig Heimbold", so I guess the former is to be preferred, although I know we don't take Google as authoritative. Perhaps a consensus needs to be agreed here? Cheers --RexxS (talk) 21:42, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Gerda's the expert, I was just clearing red links from an FA candidate which she linked as Ludwid Heimbold! Agreed, we should redirect to Ludwig Helmbold based on most hits.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:44, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Agree also, as the German Wikipedia uses that name, also other languages. Sorry about the confusion, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:48, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
